This position serves as the Departmental Analyst for all travel for the Forest Resources Division. This position oversees the Master Cooperative Wildland Fire Management Agreement between multiple federal agencies across the country, Canada, and the State of Michigan and is responsible for analyzing transactions, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with the agreement.

They will work closely with staff that are dispatched to out-of-state federal fires and All-Hazard incidents to ensure they follow policies and procedures and adhere to the requirements of the agreement.

This position serves as the liaison between Forest Resources Division (FRD), the Department of Management and Budget, Vehicle and Travel Services, as well as represents FRD on department committees and work groups. This position serves as the Analyst responsible for supporting the management of the division's complex and unique fleet program to ensure field staff including Forest Fire Officers, Foresters, Forest Technicians, and Land Surveyors have the vehicles required to perform their jobs in State and National Forest lands within the State.

This position will work closely with unit managers and field staff to evaluate their needs and establish standards to ensure they have vehicles equipped with all necessary specialty accessories to perform their jobs safely and effectively when responding to forest fires and traveling off-road in the forests. In addition, this position establishes invoices in accounts receivable system as well as processes all orders for standard IT equipment and smart devices.

One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11

Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Education and Experience for Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (FOR CLASSIFIED STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY)

Education

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

OR

Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

OR

Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.

OR

Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

OR

One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

  • Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate's degree or two years of college. 

Educational Substitution

College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee 9) 9 - P11

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
