Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by greeting and answering their questions

  • Tour your department to ensure it meets our customers' expectations

  • Work hand-in-hand with sales associates to get the job done

  • Prepare and plan for upcoming events that will impact your department

  • Ability to communicate, take direction at all levels, and turn it into action

  • Use basic math skills to maintain accurate inventory levels

This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervises and evaluates assigned staff; develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews time-sheets; addresses employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; supervises work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures. Supervises and directs contractors engaged in ongoing maintenance work or special projects. Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities to meet objectives; ensures subordinates have proper resources to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; provides progress and activity reports to management; and assists with revisions to procedure manuals as appropriate. Schedules and manages day-to-day work; determines daily tasks and estimates the resources required; assigns tasks to staff or contract workers including completion deadlines; creates and issues work orders; and records project status. Schedules and supervises project work; designs and monitors projects; creates purchase orders for contract work; conducts inspections of in-progress and completed work to ensure standards are met; authorizes payment of contractor invoices; and prepares status reports and work records as required. Inspects park grounds and equipment for maintenance, repair, or replacement issues; conducts on-site inspections, including safety inspections; inspects play areas for safety, repair, or replacement issues to structures, equipment, and surface areas; and oversees maintenance, repair, and replacement work. Oversees maintenance of equipment; ensures scheduled maintenance of equipment (including vehicles and tools) is performed; ensures maintenance records are current and correct; and maintains required inventory of tools and supplies, including personal protection or other safety equipment. Implements and enforces safety policies and procedures; trains and advises employees and contractors on applicable policies and procedures, including safety and loss prevention; ensures adherence to policies and procedures; ensures required personal protection equipment is provided; conducts safety inspections of equipment and vehicles; and manages loss prevention programs. Acts as liaison between citizens, contractors, and employees; addresses citizen inquiries or concerns; meets with contractors to discuss projects before, during, and after completion to advise and ensure standards are met; coordinates between staff and contract employees as required; and manages staff development and correction. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or construction; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License, including appropriate endorsements, is preferred.
