Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by greeting and answering their questions

  • Tour your department to ensure it meets our customers' expectations

  • Work hand-in-hand with sales associates to get the job done

  • Prepare and plan for upcoming events that will impact your department

  • Ability to communicate, take direction at all levels, and turn it into action

  • Use basic math skills to maintain accurate inventory levels


Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience or experience in a retail environment preferred

Working in close partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor, the Building and Environmental Supervisor will ensure that the highest standards for cleanliness are maintained throughout the buildings. As a leader, this position will be accountable for managing and coordinating the resources, tasks, requirements, systems and processes related to housekeeping and event operations, and for creating an energized and positive work environment that results in the delivery of exceptional visitor service. This includes interpreting and overseeing the setup of facility rentals, events and meeting space requests by consulting the Altru database system, events department members and customers. In addition, this role will be responsible for planning and scheduling staff and ensuring that the levels of cleanliness are maintained throughout operational hours. This position is designed to be a working supervisor position and can be physically taxing. Knowledge – Technical The Building Services Supervisor will use independent judgment to best fulfill the set up and housekeeping needs for routine business operation, meeting and facility rentals, special events and weddings. This will include knowledge of table and chair configuration that will consider the client’s preference, safety standards and Arboretum protocol. Incumbent should have knowledge in cleaning the interior and exterior of buildings, using appropriate cleaning solutions and operating standard commercial equipment. Physical Capabilities Much of this position will require physical effort and may include lifting, moving and carrying chairs and tables, bending, stooping and/or climbing a ladder. Walking up and down stairs is necessary as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This role may work outside in various weather conditions. Interpersonal Skills Develops and maintains effective working relationship with others in order to encourage and support communication and teamwork. Ability to articulate and follow verbal and written instructions. Customer Service Recognizes potential problems in service, addresses and resolves issues promptly and respectfully.
