Job Description Job Description The Town of Brewster seeks a qualified and collaborative professional to serve as its next DPW Director. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the Department of Public Works & DPW staff.

Under the administrative direction of the Town Manager, the DPW Director develops and implements plans for construction and maintenance of the Town’s infrastructure, including roadways, parks, grounds, beaches, athletic fields, and cemeteries. Oversees various department programs including pavement management, solid waste and recycling, snow and ice control, and the town’s stormwater infrastructure program. Works with the Town Procurement Officer on project and material bidding process to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Meets regularly with the front office staff to schedule and coordinate work activities of the department. Responsible for the development, presentation, and administration of the department’s annual operating and capital budgets. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with all constituents, including residents, department heads, staff, elected and appointed officials and must be a consensus-builder.

Bachelor’s degree with specialization in engineering, business, public administration or a related field with a minimum of ten years related work experience, and a minimum of five years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. This is a full-time position, covered under the Town’s Personnel Bylaw Agreement, with an annual starting salary range of $131,414 - $147,908, depending on qualifications and experience.
