Department Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chair of World Arts and Cultures/Dance (WACD) and the Associate Dean of Administration, coordinate and manage financial, administrative, and program elements within the Department. Major duties include short- and long-term strategic planning, administrative and fiscal oversight of department services, staff, and facilities; coordination of academic and performance programs, student and alumni activities; development of extramural relationships, community outreach and joint ventures.
The manager functions both independently and in conjunction with the Chair and faculty on a broad range of duties. Primary responsibilities include strategic and long range planning; policy and direction setting; problem solving; decision making; budgetary, staffing and resource management; as well as general administrative management of the department. Serve as administrative liaison with the Dean's Office in clarifying Department goals and objectives.

Qualifications
Demonstrated management experience in a university academic unit with proven ability to analyze, interpret and apply management principles, practices, and techniques for complex research organizations. (Required)Experience in strategic planning, program development and international project management. Knowledge of development and public relations functions in an academic setting. (Required)Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally interact with diverse university and external populations using tact and diplomacy, resourcefulness, good judgment, understanding, and persuasion. (Required)Strong organizational, negotiation, and decision-making skills with expertise in clarifying, mediating, and resolving complex situations. (Required)Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues, and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with administrators, faculty, students and staff. (Required)Demonstrated ability to project budget costs, coordinate multiple projects, adapt programmatic objectives to changes in resources and establish priorities as affected by budgetary issues. (Required)Demonstrated knowledge of the applicable UC policies and procedures governing academic and staff personnel, accounting, contracts and grants, purchasing, equipment inventory, and administrative computing. (Required)Demonstrated knowledge of presenting performance and/or visual art curation within a professional environment. (Preferred)Demonstrated understanding of ethical issues in a university setting and the ability to instill and maintain appropriate standards of behavior and feedback. Skill in interacting with persons of various social, cultural, economic and education backgrounds. (Required)Knowledge of extramural contract and grant requirements and regulations for sponsored research, and University policies and procedures governing the administration of Federal contracts and grants. (Preferred)Knowledge of UCLA online systems: OASIS (PAC and BruinBuy) and Travel Express, financial reports, payroll, QDB, SIMS, and experience creating and utilizing Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. (Preferred)Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to recruit, train, manage and evaluate staff. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in the Arts or a related field and five years of experience in Arts management or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. (Required) Master's Degree in the Arts or a related field preferred (Preferred)
