The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Department Manager to join the team at our Nashville, NC facility.

The Department Manager will COACH and MANAGE the activities of assigned production departments and team members with focus on the responsibilities described below. The Department Manager is part of the production leadership and is expected to support plant-specific programs as well as programs initiated by our home office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety. Enforce Clayton's safety culture by adhering to and enforcing the following:

PPE

Department-specific safety/hazard/risk prevention

Lock-out / tag-out

Participate in Safety training meetings as requested for continuous education on new guidelines

Conduct routine tool and equipment safety inspection as required

Communication. Consider each team member opportunities and strengths.

Provide fair and objective performance coaching

Foster an environment of praise and celebration of victories

Support team member experience programs, trainings, and events

Own new team member experience considering retention and training

Ensures that the Communication Center are used during the morning huddles.

Coach, correct and counsel team members. Utilize the progressive discipline documentation system appropriately.

Perform team member evaluations.

Quality

Read and check off orders as built

Ensure traveler is signed correctly

Enforce Gateway Program. All defects must be addressed in station.

Ensure defects are corrected by the root Team Member to teach & eliminate repeat occurrences

Conduct routine material inspections to avoid shortages and building defects into the home

Participate in Quality training opportunities as requested for continuous education

Productivity

Read all orders and review prints plan and prepare your team for successful runs the day before

Empower team members by delegating strength-based tasks. Teach and Coach; don't do the work.

Procures training and re-training for team members.

Ensures that line rolls are met, consistently.

Promote a spirit of teamwork within and across departments.

Participate in the inventory process.

Housekeeping

Ensure clean department(s) before, during and after work using 5 min clean-ups.

Involvement in ISO14001 initiatives (recycling program)

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

Demonstrate continuous willingness to learn, grow, and gain understanding as a leader in our organization

Demonstrate effective motivation skills and techniques to encourage team to meet performance objectives

Demonstrate honesty in all situations to cultivate an environment of trust

Demonstrate fairness in all decisions and when holding team members accountable

Understands prints, reads orders, and prepares team for production run in advance to ensure production goals are met

Be willing to see the big picture and not just the areas of assigned responsibility

Education and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

BS/BA in management or related, preferred

Two to 5 years of experience managing team members

Homebuilding industry experience, preferred

Manufacturing experience, preferred

Genera Skills:

Language Skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of peers or team members.

Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Rules and Regulation. All team members must adhere to all safety rules and regulations required by local, State and Federal authorities, wear the appropriate personal protective equipment necessary to perform the job in a safe manner and will follow all safety rules per the Company's Safety Policy.

The Home Building Group is actively searching for an Engineering Manager to join the team at our Nashville, NC facility. POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager will be the working manager responsible for developing CAD 3rd Party Submittal & Production drawings for conformance with design specs, construction designs, and building codes conforming to HUD or MOD code requirements and manufacturing needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for managing and creating production drawings necessary to construct all models. * Responsible for all 3rd Party Submittal drawings such as Floor Plan, Electrical, Shearwalls, Plumbing, Gas, and HVAC designs. * Create drawings for models starting with preliminary design sketch and completing all related drawings, including all options. * Maintain thorough knowledge of current materials used by manufacturing. * Periodically follow homes during the construction process to obtain knowledge of the manufacturing processes and provide assistance to the production team. * Project coordination with facility teams and plant management. * Manage priorities and projects based on assigned manufacturing schedule and collaborate with facility team and plant management. * Maintain thorough knowledge of current materials used by manufacturing as well as our DAPIA and modular construction manuals. * Assist with troubleshooting. * Perform code research and interpretation. * Maintains knowledge of CAD systems. * Ensure that all work created is complete and accurate prior to distribution. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Industrial, Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering a plus. * Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar AutoDesk product. * Strong problem-solving skills. * Basic understanding of the HUD and IRC, including the ability to read and interpret those codes. * Thorough knowledge of housing construction processes and materials. * Proficient using programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) & Adobe Acrobat Professional. * Intermediate level computer skills. * Attitude that reflects a sense of urgency and a commitment to service. 1001 EASTERN AVE NASHVILLE, North Carolina, 27856 United States Clayton Homes Nashville NC
