Job Summary:

As the Department Manager, you drive profitable sales growth by planning and executing company merchandising direction to drive sales and deliver standard operating procedure execution in your department (i.e. markdowns, signage, replenishment, and marketing). As the subject matter expert for all brand merchandising training, product standard operating procedures, tools and resources, you are also responsible for holding others accountable for meeting merchandising standards and productivity expectations. Your department consistently represents brand standards and company strategies. You are responsible for flexing to drive profitability based on our brands merchandising principles and financial analysis. You are responsible for knowing and executing all company product knowledge and strategies. You play a critical leadership role within your store, leading both direct and indirect reports to positively impact the team, operations and profitability of the store. You own the development of those that report to you.

As an Old Navy leader, your first priority is to contribute to the success of your store. This means that you not only deliver in your role as the Department Manager, but you also model leadership behaviors and deliver as a manager on duty. As the Manager on Duty, you deliver results during your assigned time, drive key performance indicators and brand loyalty by leading through your team. You make decisions and collaborate with other members of your store leadership team to prioritize work based on business needs and company direction.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred

  • 2-3 years of soft lines and visual merchandising experience preferred

  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees

  • Ability to maneuver around sales floor, stock room, work with and around cleaning chemicals, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including travel) to meet the needs of the business, including evenings, overnight and weekend shifts

Summary: The Freight Supervisor functions as a member of the Store Leadership Team and is responsible for providing leadership and direction to Stock Associates while ensuring efficient and effective store operations in the freight area. Position may also provide supervision on the sales floor as assigned by the Store Manager. Responsibilities: * Supervise and oversee the store shipping & receiving function. * Lead and functionally supervise a team of Stock Associates. * Provide direction and guidance to Stock Associates to ensure efficient and effective operation of the stock room and product flow. * Maintain company standards and guidelines around product flow process and shipping & receiving procedures. * Ensure accurate receipt & delivery of product into and out of the store. Provide efficient order management from placement of order to delivery of goods. * Prepare monthly department updates to Store Manager. * Ensure necessary shipping supplies are always available by planning and ordering in advance. * Partner with distribution centers, customer service, and accounting when necessary. * Perform opening and closing procedures such as balancing registers, preparing cash bags, and activating security system. * Maintain department presentation and sales performance through upholding company and/or store direction and guidelines. * Oversee and authorize cash register transactions made by Sales Associates and provide assistance/training with cash register transactions as needed. * Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with questions, concerns and product information * Create and maintain an environment of strong sales and exceptional customer service through teamwork, coaching Associates, and leading by example. * Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements * High School Diploma or equivalent experience. * Prefer 3 years previous retail operations experience with at least one year of retail supervisory, management or leadership experience. * Combination of previous experience, education and relevant experience considered. * Previous shipping, receiving and/or supply chain experience preferred. * Skill in operating personal computers, POS systems and various software packages including Microsoft Word and Excel are needed. * Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of company personnel through oral and written means is required. * Effective retail math experience/aptitude/ability required. Job Conditions: * Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak periods. * Available to work store schedule – Sunday to Saturday. * Physical requirements include the ability to use telephone, computerized systems; perform repetitive movements of the arms and shoulders, stand for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day, move freely around store, bend, twist, reach, squat, climb a ladder and regularly lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
