The Department Leader is responsible for the daily task in a designated department, inclusive of signing, merchandising, markdowns, daily recovery, seasonal floor layout and any additional tasks. The Department Leader role supports the Store Leadership team in total store to meet Store performance objectives. In this position you will also be responsible for acting as a Leader on Duty; in this role you will be providing both a positive guest and associate experience through communication and building partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maximize sales results by communicating and leading associates daily with sales results, markdowns, merchandising and recovery standards.

  • Role model positive guest service and demonstrate application of Gordmans core values to enhance associate engagement and team morale.

  • Monitor department performance goals and review necessary reports to strategize and execute seasonal layout and operational efficacies.

  • Assist Store Leadership in the training and development of new associates on key job responsibilities to achieve company profit driving programs; i.e. Credit, Synapse and g-Rewards.

  • Communicate clearly with Store Leadership, and associates to provide proactive information regarding status of projects including providing feedback and recognition to associates on results achieved.

  • Exhibit behavior that properly represents Gordmans at all times, by conducting business in an ethical and socially responsible manner and actively promoting company initiatives.

  • Supervise associates in the absence of Store Management through effective Leader on Duty program and by performing all business-driving strategies on a consistent basis.

  • For Department Leaders with Stockroom responsibilities: Accountability for the overall effectiveness and organization of the stockroom operations to include unloading trailers, processing and placement of merchandise

  • Responsible for all company policy and procures to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Department Leaders are required to know and perform the essential duties of the sales associate and Department Specialist functions.

  • Detect common signs of dishonest behavior and safeguard company assets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the hourly associates in solving problems that affect the store's service, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Ability to coordinate merchandise placement, sales promotion activities and pricing of merchandise.

  • Knowledge of execution with layout changes, signage, freight placement, markdowns and recovery, as necessary.

  • Ability to model and provide direction to hourly Associates on proper Guest Service approaches to ensure the Guest's needs, complaints and issues are successfully resolved within company guidelines and standards.

  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others both written and verbally.

  • Is knowledgeable and can follow all Store Safety and Emergency procedures.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems.

  • Ability to function as part of a team.

  • Ability to Open and Close the Store per company guidelines.

  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. Under the age of 21 requires approval.

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required

  • 1 to 3 years of retail or guest service experience is required.

  • Must provide open availability for scheduled work shifts as business needs dictate. (Including nights, weekends & Holidays).

  • Ability to grasp lift or otherwise move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand and continuously perform essential job functions for up to an eight and one half hour shift.

Our Service Specialist II (phone team) position is responsible for delivering accurate and courteous responses to telephone inquiries from contract owners, agents, and thirdparties. This candidate has greater expertise than a Specialist I, and may be utilized for special projects and peer mentoring. This candidate enjoys working with people in a fast-paced environment, and is able to efficiently handle a large volume of callson a wide range of subjects. The ability to comprehend and retain information about annuity products and effectively communicate our policies verbally and in writing is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Consistently meets or exceeds department standards for phone quality/customer service scores * Resolves complex inquiries and complaints from internal and external customers * Comprehends and effectively communicates all annuity product contract provisions, company policies, and government regulations pertaining to annuity contracts (such as RMD, Transfers, Rollovers, 1035 Exchanges, 1099R, and 5498) * Effective multi-tasking, such as transitioning among multiple phone queue hunt groups * Ability to successfully handle 60-100 inbound and outbound telephone calls on days they are not handling special projects. o Takes initiative and ownership in every call and situation o Provides answers and solutions in a manner all parties can understand o Researches information and handles return calls/other follow up as needed * Provides accurate quotes and business correspondence via letter or e-mail in timely manner * Navigates multiple computer systems, applications, and utilize search tools to find information * Dependable and remains available to answer calls when scheduled * Consistently meets or exceeds department standards for efficiency * Updates client annuity contracts by adding timely notes with the most current information so it is readily available to all other company personnel * Consistently meets or exceeds department standards for processing accuracy * Learns and accurately processes tasks which pertain specifically to providing excellent service during and after a call - all Level 1 and some Level 2-3 processing tasks * Resolves complex inquiries and complaints from internal and external customers upon escalation via phone, e-mail, or other correlating business correspondence. * Able to effectively handle more advanced hunt groups and provides assistance to less experienced representatives either on the spot and/or via phone or e-mail. * Involved in the service department Mentorship Program * Ability to provide training on policies and procedures to newer team members when asked * Handles special projects or reports as assigned * May be granted additional authorization to delete TOVs and letters * Ability to find resolution when working with more advanced or escalated situations Education and/or Experience College degree and 2-5 years of direct work experience desired, but not required.
