Team Overview:

We are looking for a Department Leader to join the Digital, Data, & Operations (DDO) Delivery Services organization as the functional Department Leader (DL) responsible for Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Project Leaders and Agile Coaches who work across all functions, capabilities, products, release trains and projects within the Digital, Data, and Operations (DDO) divisions. The DDO Delivery Services Department Leader (DSDL) will own, direct, and manage the activities of a Delivery Services Department (consisting of several teams) responsible to deliver desired business and technical outcomes using agile methodologies at scale. This role will have direct leadership of team(s) of practitioners and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with responsibility to influence, direct, and improve technical agile processes and practices across and within other functions, departments, and organizations within the Digital, Data, & Operations Divisions.

What You Will Do:

  • Plan, direct, and lead a department (consisting of several teams) of matrixed associates and contractors responsible for the execution of the Firm's top priorities

  • Promote and ensure proper application of agile standards, best practices, lean-agile processes, and role and responsibility expectations

  • Lead and influence Team Leaders, Individual Contributors, peer department leaders, and senior stakeholders directly or indirectly

  • Align department strategies, responsibilities and objectives with the firm's strategic direction and ensure prudent use of the firm's resources

  • Partner with our internal customers and stakeholders to gather and synthesize feedback to inform areas for focus and improvement on department processes

  • Provide leadership, development, and mentoring to Team Leaders and associates through examples and timely feedback

  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative data and information to promote sound execution and quality of initiatives, epics, features, and user stories

  • Understand the technologies related to and/or dependent on the department's systems and processes and ensure accountability to appropriate usage

  • Ensure understanding and accountability to our system development methodologies and processes within the Edward Jones Digital, Data, and Operations Divisions

  • Act as a player/coach or individual contributor in helping to deliver large scale capabilities as needed

  • Take initiative and proactively make recommendations, implement solutions to common problems, and assist in removing process and technical roadblocks

What Experience You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical or finance field or related combination of education and work experience

  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressing leadership responsibility directly related to Information Systems technology, Product Management, and/or agile methodologies at scale

  • Establishing goals and objectives for large teams, strategy to action, and setting direction

  • Experience leading remote teams, operating in a matrix environment, and problem/conflict resolution

  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, Product Management best practices, and related workflow processes

  • Experience implementing and improving scaled agile development frameworks, methodologies, and best practices

  • Demonstrated track record of measuring and improving scaled agile performance and execution across numerous interrelated initiatives and epics

  • Growing/cultivating high performing teams in a matrixed environment, which includes resource allocation/leveling and people administration (feedback, recruiting, hiring, development, succession planning).

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Experience in Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, with technical area of expertise preferred

  • 3-5 years experience with agile roles and responsibilities, flow metrics, dependency management, story to feature to epic breakdown, and other leading and lagging indicators (Jira, Easy Agile)

  • Preference to candidates with experience leading large-scale business and/or cultural change, high-impact strategy assignments, and complex multi-program execution delivery

  • Experience with large-scale agile and product implementations, reporting, and continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated experience with communicating complex situations and solutions to stakeholders, executive leaders, and departments

  • Experience and ability to lead through change and provide open communication by listening actively to others.

  • Experience reacting to issues in the organization's ecosystem and creating focused improvement efforts which includes multiple systems, teams, departments, etc.

  • Comfortable working through ambiguous situations to define precise expectations, priorities and drive actionable outcomes

  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment working across multiple time zones
