The Ira A Fulton Schools of Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs (FSE ASA) is seeking a highly motivated, outgoing, and dynamic Human Resources Specialist to perform professional HR functions in a high-paced and complex environment. These functions include but are not limited to maintenance and retention of unit personnel files, payroll management, staffing coordination, human resource compliance, internal controls, and other functions designated by unit administrator.

The successful applicant will maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students, handle confidential and sensitive information, use software applications as they apply to the position, and be skilled in policy and procedures, work within short deadlines, and multitask in a team environment.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulation of a computer mouse (75%); frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (25%.)

  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

  • Calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse,) printer, fax, and copier.

  • This position receives regular review of objectives by the department administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two (2) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Essential Duties

  • Performs all activities associated with Department Time Administrator to ensure accurate and timely recording of exceptions and positive time for human resource staff members.

  • Tracks ACA trending reports and communicates the information on allowed future average hours to employees and supervisors appropriately.

  • Posts student job openings and processes student hires utilizing BrassRing.

  • Processes personnel transactions including hires and terminations, salary increases, change in category, promotions, etc., and stores in appropriate digital storage locations supporting documentation for these transactions.

  • Coordinates and processes personnel searches and hiring within the department and maintains personnel files consistent with University policies and practices.

  • Works closely with college administration and central OHR to coordinate departmental human resource activities to ensure adherence with college and university policies, practices, and regulations.

  • Tracks and ensures department compliance in mandatory trainings.

  • Investigates payroll discrepancies and works as a liaison between the unity and human resources to reach a solution.

  • Works closely with the unit financial administrator to review account expenditure requests and obtain expenditure approvals in accordance with established financial guidelines and policies.

  • May supervise, train, and evaluate student workers.

  • Assists with special projects, requiring problem-solving, research, and recommendation of next steps.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure continual efficient operations of department to meet customer service needs.

Salary Range
