VIEW JOBS 4/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-16T00:00 <p>A law clerk contributes to the operations of the Court by performing a wide variety of duties, among them:</p><p>* Maintains an overall understanding of the court systems and processes</p><p>* Oversees the Civil Case Management System for his/her Judge through use of various systems</p><p>* Tracks each assigned civil case from inception to disposition through monthly “tickles” and case comments</p><p>* Communicates and collaborates with the Judges' Secretary and Court Administration to schedule dates for required proceedings</p><p>* Communicates with counsel and case participants in regards to the status of cases, guarding against any exparte communications with the court<br></p><p>* Conducts status conferences on behalf of the Court when directed<br></p><p>* Assigns cases for alternative dispute resolutions at the appropriate time, using the mediation tracking, and designated orders</p><p>* Schedules cases, as appropriate, for credit card and mortgage foreclosure courts from the civil case management list</p><p>* Prepares, attends, and follows-up with credit card and mortgage foreclosure courts</p><p>* Forwards cases, as appropriate, to Court Administration/Law Librarian for the scheduling of arbitrations <br></p><p>* Oversees and conducts jury selection for summary jury trials</p><p>* Researches state and if necessary federal law and writes opinions as directed by the Judge<br>* Reviews and keeps current on recent Superior Court and Supreme Court Opinions to assist the Court with decisions</p><p>* Works with the Court Scheduler in assigning cases to Civil Jury Selections and Trial Terms</p><p>* Assists the Court with the development and functioning of local rules and meets with the President Judge and Court Administration to discuss any updates</p><p> * Keeps statistics and monthly disposition reports on assigned cases</p><p>* Attends proceedings, trainings, meetings and seminars as directed by Judge</p><p>* Completes additional tasks and duties as assigned by the judge</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>Qualified candidates must possess a law degree; communications skills sufficient to present information, and respond to questions from the Court, County officials, coworkers, and the public; maintain confidentiality; ability and comfort working with people of all skills and backgrounds; computer literacy; and strong customer service orientation.</p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Competitive benefits package starts first of the month following employment and includes 90% employer-paid PPO health insurance with prescription and vision components, defined benefit pension plan, defined contribution plan, group term life insurance, sick time, and 14 annual paid holidays.
