Posting Summary

The Department Administrator provides broad administrative support to the Rutgers University Camden Information Technology (RUCIT) Department by organizing, coordinating and supervising the daily administrative operations of the department. RUCIT provides computing, media and other related support to all administrative departments on campus as well as all Academic Units based in Camden.

This position is responsible for preparing, processing, and controlling records, statistics, reports and documents of our Department's financial records as well as our human capital records. As such, this position provides routine and non-routine information and explanation to our supported constituents. This position serves as a liaison with other departments on campus; including, Budgeting, Business Office, HR.

This position works under general supervision, within the mission of the Department, with few direct instructions. Performs professional work that requires a broad understanding of general administrative, management principles, and best practices. This position works closely with the Director in managing all of our unit's budgets. In support of this, the position analyzes past, present and predicated future spending to build our annual budget and advise the Director of the results of this analysis.

Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement

This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in excellent customer service, office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, budget monitoring/bookkeeping, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The RUCIT Department Administrator must possess a Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in excellent customer service, office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, budget monitoring/bookkeeping, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices. The Department Administrator must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service skills, and the ability to successfully interact with and build relationships with a variety of individuals.

The Department Administrator must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access) is required as is the ability to operate University wide Administrative Systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those with experience working in a service office in a higher-ed environment. Candidates with significant budget management skills are strongly preferred. Experience working with an Information Technology group is highly desirable.

Equipment Utilized

he Department Administrator must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access) and be able to learn and operate in other campus database systems (RIAS, HCM, SRDB, and budget systems, etc.). S/he will be expected to use the Internet to complete work responsibilities. In addition, this position will utilize specalized equipment in the support of accurate inventory management.
