Minimum Qualifications

2 years of college and four years of related experience with at least three years of dental assisting experience. Dental Assistant Certification, EDDA certification, or equivalent training in implant dentistry is required. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade NE1. Wage Minimum $17.84/hour

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Dental Assistant and with an electronic health record database. Nationally certified Dental Assistant, EDDA Certified, and certified Dental Radiology preferred. General knowledge of Oral Hygiene and radiation safety.

Position Description

The University of Louisville School of Dentistry prepares students for a career in Dentistry. Programs are available at the DMD level in general dentistry and the Masters level in endodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and prosthodontics. Dental Clinic Staff facilitate the interface between student providers and their patients during while delivering care within the clinics. All dental clinic support staff directly support the work of the students as they progress towards completion of their clinical requirements.

$1000 sign-on/retention bonus available to those who qualify

This position is responsible for the ordering and inventorying of implant parts and materials as well as assisting residents with surgical procedures in the operating room.

  • Works with faculty, peers and supervisors to deliver customer service oriented and patient centered care within the Grad Oral Surgery Clinic.

  • Order and inventory implants, implant parts and bone graft material as needed for clinic procedures.

  • Verify insurance and review benefits with patients.

  • Review treatment plans and associated payment plans with patients.

  • Schedule patients for surgery.

  • Assist residents during surgical procedures.

  • Support the front desk and the back office as needed.

  • Maintains HIPPA, OSHA and Infection Control compliance at all times.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Works with subcontract organization, community partner organizations, and research staff to ensure all research related activities, including administrative responsibilities related to research, are completed. Manages all research staff and ensures research within scope of responsibility is conducted according to federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Direct and coordinate study activities and personnel to ensure NIDCR (National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research) compliance. * Update and maintain regulatory binder and NIDCR documentation to reflect personnel and policy changes, study enrollment, and track study activities. * Prepare monthly recruitment and enrollment numbers for the Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) reporting. * Coordinate required NIH research duties and activities on behalf of the study P.I. with partner organizations and Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE). * Coordinate changes to the MOP, study Protocol, and sends revised documents to NIDCR and keeps updated copy in regulatory binder. * Documentation and reporting of any adverse events. * Implementation and direct oversight of a behavioral intervention study that focuses on improving the oral health of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Includes developing/updating instructional materials, coordinating and conducting intervention sessions, and data collection with caregivers and residents at multiple facilities within Kentucky and Southern Indiana. * Overseas training, calibration and scheduling of oral exams by the examining dentists. * Responsible for collecting all intervention and oral exam data and delivering forms to PIRE for evaluation. * Provide oversight and training of three (3) research dental hygienist, one (1) research assistant, and two (2) examining dentists. * Assist in recruiting of personnel. * Ensure quality and consistency of all personnel in delivering intervention, collecting data and current in training, policies, and procedures. * Coordinate the recruitment and enrollment of partner organizations, as well as both caregivers, residents and guardians within each organization. * Maintain relationship with organization and communication about study activities. * Consent caregivers, guardians and residents to participate in study. * Determine eligibility of consented participants and track each study participant's activities throughout the 12 months of the study. * Direct and coordinate study activities to ensure IRB (Institutional Review Board) compliance. * Complete annual review of study within iRIS and submit any amendments needed between reviews. * Assure proper IRB consenting protocols and procedures are followed and any other correspondence with the IRB. * Various administrative, planning and operational tasks such as ordering and managing supplies, ProCard Reallocator/Reconciler, and processing POs. * Data entry in SharePoint and maintaining data files.
