Dental Hygienist

Job Summary: The Dental Hygienist is primarily responsible for assessing patient needs, plans and delivers direct dental care and associated services to patients. This includes, but not limited to, utilizing established dental hygiene protocol and procedures; cleans calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums; feels lymph nodes under patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer; feels and visually examines gums for sores and signs of disease; may provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health of school children. Required Education/Required Training: Associates degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Licensed or eligibility as a Dental Hygienist in DC; CPR certified. Required Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience. Experience working with underserved or homeless populations preferred. * For correctional position-correctional experience- preferred but not required.
