Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is currently seeking a Dental Hygienist. Performs traditional and expanded dental hygiene services on patients within the Department of Periodontics and the Department of Restorative Dentistry. Assists faculty in clinical research and when not engaged in specific hygiene tasks, may provide support to clinic auxiliary staff.
Performs complete prophylaxis including removal of all hard and soft deposits from all surfaces of teeth to the epithelial attachment; scaling/root planning and curettage; polish natural and restored teeth.
Provides preventative measures, such as the application of fluoride and other recognized topical agents; provides oral hygiene instructions.
Examines soft and hard tissue of the head, neck and oral cavity, notes deformities, defects and abnormalities.
Performs maintenance for various types of implant restorations.
Takes, develops and mounts radiographs.
Performs a wide variety of dental procedures that are reversible, such as placement of rubber dams, matrix bands, sealants, fabrication and placement of temporary crowns; takes impressions using various materials.
Manages, appoints and recalls oral hygiene patients with faculty guidance.
Serves as a primary research assistant for clinical community site visits; coordinates site visit data collection and participates in data organization and analysis.
