Summary:OPEN UNTIL FILLED. SALARY WILL DEPEND ON EDUCATION LEVEL, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS.
We operate a medical clinic located on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, partially funded by the Indian Health Service. The clinic is solely owned and operated by the Hoopa Valley Tribe. We are a Joint Commission accredited ambulatory clinic and behavioral health unit, with our Patient Centered Medical Home accreditation.
Our primary programs and services are outpatient medical, dental, pharmacy, outreach services, senior nutrition, ambulance service, a grant funded diabetes department, and behavioral health unit [which includes mental health and substance abuse]. Hoopa is located on the beautiful Trinity River in Northern California. Hoopa is a small community of approximately 3,500 residents primarily Native American.
Duties:1. Support the overall mission of the K'ima:w Medical Center. 2.
Under the general supervision of the Dentist perform all aspects of clinical preventative hygiene services. 3. Provide Oral hygiene instruction, periodontal charting, prophylaxis, polishing, application of topical fluoride, pit and Fissure sealants, root planning and curettage, intra-oral and soft tissue exam including periodontal tissue. 4. Take and develop bite-wing and full mouth digital radiographs when indicated. 5.
Maintain clean and sterile atmosphere, instruments and equipment. 6. Review and be familiar with the California Table of Permitted Duties. 7. Update medical history, dental conditions and risks. 8.
Complete chart notes efficiently and within the time frame of (72hrs) with correct coding and provider. 9. Serve as an oral health educator by introducing new preventative techniques and counseling. 10. Maintain hygiene recall system. 11.
Provide screening and education and treatment at: a. Hoopa Valley Preschools b. Hoopa Valley Elementary c.
Hoopa Valley High School d. Mobile Unit 12. Work with other staff to keep clinic in a clean, sanitary and presentable condition. 13.
Maintains stock of hygiene supplies and instruments/equipment. 14. Recognizes and treats simple emergencies; able to perform one and two-person cardiopulmonary resuscitation. 15. Review and be familiar with the clinic and insurance guidelines for all periodontal procedures. 16.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate from, an accredited dental hygiene school with current Dental Hygiene License
