LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH/Carroll County Health Department, Oral Health Program, Westminster, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This part-time position will provide full performance level of work providing dental hygiene treatments and services at the Carroll County Health Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners under the licensing requirements for Dental Hygienist.

Experience: Two years of experience providing dental hygiene treatments and services as a Dental Hygienist.

Notes: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Dental Hygienist, or Specialist classifications, or Dental Hygienist, or Specialist specialty codes in the dental field of work on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience working with children.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current certification as a Dental Hygienist from the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners.
2.Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training in, and maintain, current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
3.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES Implements programs and makes changes to programs to provide services to customers by following Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and establishing agency policies and procedures for social work services for children, families and adults. Supervises Social Work Supervisors and Human Services Specialists in order to assure adherence to policy and regulations by providing consultation, training and performance evaluations. Provides consultation to other Assistant Directors in order to assist with administrative decisions by referencing local agency and State procedures. Plans for delivery of social work programs, both short and long term, in order to meet changing needs to establish goals and standards for programs by referencing State policy and community resources. Deploys staff within the social work service programs in order to assure coverage of all vital services by evaluating needs and establishing priorities. Represents the Department with other agencies in order to establish excellent working relationships within the community by attending meetings and outreaching to the community. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Possession of a master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university approved by the Council on Social Work Education. Experience: Seven (7) years of professional experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or institution, four (4) years of which must have been in an administrative, supervisory or consultative capacity. Note: These requirements are established by the Social Service Administration by authority provided in Human Services §4-204 of the Annotated Code of Maryland and the Department of Budget and Management, Office of Personnel Services and Benefits does not have authority to accept substitutions or equivalents.
