Sinclair's Dental Health Sciences Department offers programs in Dental Hygiene, Expanded Functions for Dental Auxiliaries and a Dental Assisting Program. Additionally, we offer several Continuing Education courses throughout the year.

Sinclair is currently seeking candidates for a tenure track opening in Dental Health Sciences effective January 2024.

Principal Accountabilities

The following are six critical performance areas that define a tenure-track faculty position:

  • Scholarship and Professional Growth: Maintain and seek to improve currency and competence in the discipline and as a teacher.

  • Teaching and Learning Facilitation: Participate in the continuing development and implementation of the department's curriculum through teaching that reflects a strong commitment to fostering student success.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Implement evaluations according to established standards and use assessment data to continuously improve teaching and learning.

  • Student Development: Through in-class and out-of-class initiatives, actively seek to advance the development of individual students and their capacity to meet their educational goals.

  • Curriculum Design: In collaboration with colleagues, actively contribute to the continuous review and revision of the department's curriculum.

  • Workplace and Community Service: Contribute to the operation and advancement of the college through committee service and other activities. Extend professional expertise to the community served by the college.

Clinical Coordinator Requirements

  • Oversees the daily schedule and operation of the dental clinic, supporting patient care for the Dental Hygiene Program; coordinates the assignment of patients; tracks and facilitates patient appointments

  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities and services of assigned lab and clinical areas including support scheduling, clinic set up, and management of lab and clinic equipment and supplies.

  • Aligns clinical dental hygiene practice with educational accreditation standards.

  • Oversees clinical partnerships to ensure the affiliations are calibrated with the dental hygiene program's educational learning objectives and follow all Commission on Dental Accreditation standards.

  • Provides assistance to instructors and/or students in the clinical setting; trains faculty, staff and students on the use of clinic, lab, and sterilization equipment.

  • Ensures that the materials lab, support areas and clinic are clean, safe, and organized; promotes safe clinical practices.

  • Coordinates the ordering and re-supply of lab and clinic expendables, clinic prescription products, and medical gasses.

  • Repairs or coordinates the repair, servicing, and replacement of lab and clinic equipment as required.

  • Maintains and coordinates an accurate inventory of departmental technology, clinic and lab equipment, and chemicals.

  • Assures regulatory compliance to meet local, state, and national requirements; ensures HIPAA compliance; provides and tracks required compliance training to students.

  • Serves as the key administrator of the patient management database (EagleSoft software) to include coordination of software upgrades, serving as the liaison with the software vendor, and providing associated training to students, faculty, and staff.

  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new lab materials, clinic equipment, and instructional technologies.

  • Acts as the liaison between patients, students, clinical faculty, and the department chair.

  • Coordinates the auditing of patient charts to ensure timely, consistent, accurate, and complete notation in compliance with the Ohio State Dental Board and the Commission on Dental Accreditation; tracks patient care outcomes and oversees the correspondence with patients for completion of treatment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in the content area or a related field preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical dental hygiene experience required

  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience as a full-time or adjunct faculty required

  • Possess and maintain an Ohio Dental Hygiene License and local anesthetic certification through the Ohio State Board of Dentistry required

  • Valid Healthcare Provider CPR certification and up to date immunizations

  • EFDA certification preferred

  • Membership in the American Dental Hygiene Association preferred

  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission of the community college required

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills required

  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students and colleagues required

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills required
