This position will be a duel role where the selected individual will float to work as a Patient Care Coordinator (Dental Assistant), in various locations based upon practice need. Assist dentist in providing dental treatment, care and education to patients. Must possess strong knowledge and skill of clinical needs, and working knowledge of back office dental procedures and dental administrative functions. Must have Expanded Duties Certificate and/or Radiography Certification upon hire or within ninety (90) days after hire.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Awareness of delegable duties and functions allowed to be performed by dental assistant.

  • Assist in clinical procedures and treatments.

  • Learn and comply with Coast's administrative procedures.

  • Learn and comply with OSHA laws and safety guidelines.

  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Learn and comply with state and Federal infection control standards in the dental office and operatories, including but not limited to: wearing protective barriers such as gloves, scrubs, and eye wear; disinfecting and sterilizing instruments and treatment areas; and disposing properly of contaminated or bio-hazardous waste/materials.

  • Insure review and completion of documentation, including but not limited to: accurate and current medical history, medical alerts, and signed Consent forms.

  • Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit according to dentist's instructions and legal requirements.

  • Welcome and escort patient in reception to and from the treatment areas. Schedule appointments and assist in appointment confirmation calls.

  • Effectively provide dental education and information to insure patient awareness of dental health and continuing treatment.

  • Effectively present to patient in professional and confidential manner dental treatment plan and proposed plan for continuing treatments.

  • Understand and explain insurance benefits and financial options to patients in nonclinical terms.

  • Ensure operatories are appropriately equipped and stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.

  • Maintain equipment protocols, including but not limited to: clean evacuation system, lubricate and maintain dental hand pieces, clean and maintain radiograph processors, monitor and clean equipment, clean dental lab plaster traps and maintain clean office environment.

  • Notify Office Manager of equipment failure or general safety concerns.

  • Assist with laboratory duties as necessary.

  • Recognize signs of a dental emergency, and insure proper and timely response and notification to patient, staff, and emergency medical personnel when necessary.

  • Understand and agree to maintain production standards.

  • Effectively utilize and maintain a system of contact for patient follow-up/re-care.

  • Maintain professional working environment within office team.

  • Attend and participate in morning huddles and regular office meetings.

  • Adhere to uniform attire and basic personal hygiene standards per Company policy.

  • Attend continuing education and training seminars as scheduled.

  • Understand and abide by HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Retain license (Registered, CDA or EFDA) and demonstrate proficiency to perform expanded dental assistant functions according to state guidelines and limitations.

Qualifications

  • Active Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification.

  • Or if assisting in Florida, a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certificate obtained prior to May 2009, according to state guidelines and limitations.

  • Radiography licensure.

  • Minimum of one-year dental experience preferred.

  • Excellent customer services skills and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in high volume environment.

Working Conditions

  • Patient Care Coordinators work in a well-lit, clean environment. Their work area is usually near the dental chair so that they can arrange instruments, materials, and medication and hand them to the dentist when needed.

  • Patient Care Coordinators must wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to protect themselves and their patients from infectious diseases.

  • Patient Care Coordinators also follow safety procedures to minimize the risks associated with the use of x-ray machines.

Responsibilities: * Greets and assists walk-in and telephone customers at a branch office. * Interacts with customers in person and by telephone to service their accounts. * Conducts loan interviews and enters information into an automated record keeping system. * Proactively contacts borrowers with past-due accounts by telephone or mail to offer rewrite of loan or request payment. * Negotiates extensions and modifications of loans, and arranges payment schedules. * Assesses customers' current financial needs and determines if customer has available cash on account or if customer needs to restructure debt to a home equity bill consolidation loan. * Sells the company's current product lines, including but not limited to personal loans, home equity loans, and sales finance. * Performs a variety of cashiering functions including maintenance of the branch's cash drawer. * Delivers deposits to a financial institution on a daily basis. * Reviews assigned accounts to determine if collection methods have been effective. * Recommends to Branch Manager accounts to review for special handling or intensified collections actions. * Processes incoming payments on active and charged-off accounts. * Prepares and forwards required debits with payment and updates account payment history. * Maintains accurate and complete records on past due accounts and collection actions. * Prepares a wide range of documents for varying purposes including review and action by MVA, attorneys, repossession agencies, etc. * Retrieves specific documents from loan files. * Completes checklists and other supporting documentation and obtains credit reports. * Analyzes credit and financial information. * Posts customer garnishments into the General Ledger (GL) and advises on legal payments. * Completes all warrant in debt and garnishment paperwork for submission to court including notating CIM accounts, scanning and mailing defendant copies, and preparing out-of-state mailings when applicable. * Copies all documents and forwards assembled document packages to appropriate party on a timely basis. * Ensures that loan collection actions on assigned accounts are appropriate and timely and that established policies and procedures are observed. * Answers incoming telephone calls and customers' questions regarding perceived differences in payment records by researching and explaining payment history and timing differences as recorded. * May perform additional functions depending on market demand and branch staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service. * Additional duties and responsibilities may apply. Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * College degree preferred. * Minimum of one (1) year of selling or collecting experience preferred. * Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an office environment utilizing a variety of office equipment, including telephones, calculators, fax machines, personal computers and photocopiers and engaging in varied duties where time management and strong attentiveness to detail and accuracy are required. * Reliable transportation required; valid driver's license. * Demonstrated problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills in demanding situations. * Bilingual fluency in Spanish/English preferred.
