We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time benefits eligible Dental Assistant to work at the Lake Elmo Clinic. The Dental Assistant is to provide quality dental care to patients within HP/GHI dental facilities, incorporating elements of customer service. They are responsible for performing all dental assisting duties in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.

Work Schedule:

Monday: 7:00am-4:30pm

Tuesday: 7:00am-5:00pm

Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm

Friday 7:00am-5:00pm

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered dental assistant in the state of Minnesota.

  • Must be able to perform all duties within the scope of practice established by regulations and rules of the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Board of Dentistry that the dentist(s) delegates. For newly established functions, must complete applicable credentialing or certification requirements in a reasonable period of time after appropriate training is available.

  • Proven ability to perform as a part of a team composed of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and clerical staff.

  • If candidate doesn't already have a GA Certification, once hired and passed probation period, they will be expected to obtain this paid for by HP Dental.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have good visual acuity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms.

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time (60 minutes or longer).

  • Proficiency in English is required. Proficiencies in other languages may be required.

Accountabilities:

  • Able to perform all duties in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.

  • Responsible for knowledge and performance of clinical emergency procedures.

  • Responsible for implementing policies, procedures and treatment guidelines.

  • Assist providers directly in all phases of dental care delivery.

  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of patient care related equipment, supplies and processes.

  • Uses appropriate systems, automated or manual, to record and maintain accurate patient records and other information.

  • Responsible for awareness of the daily activity in the clinic and/or to provider staff being supported.

  • Responsible for schedule management and patient follow-up.

  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Dental Lead or Clinic Management Team.

Job Details As a Dental Assistant with our practice, you will be responsible for assisting our providers in delivering quality care to patients. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Beginning records – study models, X-rays, panorex, cephlometric, digital photographs * Efficient in 1BA, adjustments, FCDB and Debands * Impressions (pouring and trimming models for appliances and presentation) * Ship/receive/properly store all lab (retainers, study models, appliances) * Duplicate records for transfers * Photo knowledge – properly take quality intra-oral and extra-oral photos * Proficient and accurate bending/coordinating arch-wires * Removal of fixed bands/brackets * Ability to fit headgear and give instructions * Ligature removal and replacement * Wire removal and placement * Size, fit and cement orthodontic bands * Take PVS impressions and bite registrations for Invisalign treatment * Separator placement * Fabrication orthodontic retainers * Consult with patient / parents during exam * Ortho case presentations to patient (parent) * Effective communication to patients/parents regarding: POH, rubber band wear, treatment progress and cooperation issues * Coordinate correspondence between orthodontist and general dentists * Promotes patient incentive initiatives * Order Orthodontic Supplies * Other duties as assigned Required Skills * One year certified dental assistant program * High school diploma and demonstrated ability to assume dental assistant responsibilities. * Current dental assistant license is required in certain states. * Demonstrate a working knowledge of dental records and documentation. * Ability to perform basic computer functions. * Comply with protocols and standards. * Exercise knowledge of dental instruments and terminology. * Support shared vision and values.
