Dental Assistant

Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Dentist with patient care through a variety of tasks which includes common, complex and/or advanced orally related diseases needing continued supervision of the prescribed treatment plan. Performs instrument sterilization and exam room setup, conducts x-rays as requested and performs a variety of tasks related to patient care which includes oral impressions, castings and crowns. Additional duties include aiding in the explanation of the treatment plan and basic oral hygiene techniques such as brushing and flossing. Also collaborates with other medical providers and support staff, to complete his or her work and may order supplies as requested. Under direction of Dental Director, assists dental care providers with tasks related to patient care under Ryan White Part B. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.

Job Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required, Dental Assistant Certificate from state certified program preferred. Must be X-Ray certified. One (1) to three (3) years of general dental office experience required. Skills include excellent oral and written communications including telephone, organizational, and personal computer including word processing and Microsoft office. Must demonstrate a willingness to serve as a member of a team and exude excellent professional demeanor.
