This role manages the business's monthly demand planning process including the development of a rolling 18 month consensus demand plan. The Demand Manager fosters customer intimacy through direct contact with key accounts. This role implements forecasting processes including design, procedures, responsibilities and metrics.
Drives best in class demand management processes. Referencing experience, subject matter expertise, and industry best practices.
Leads the monthly demand review process to develop an accurate consensus demand forecast at the appropriate levels. This includes interactions with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Customer Service to determine assumptions, and latest market trends.
Develops statistical forecasts, and maintains historical outlier corrections.
Owns demand metrics and assists in improving forecast accuracy and eliminating bias.
Communicates requirements to supply planner and financial organization.
Reviews the demand shift proposal shared by the supply planner after bottleneck supply planning and reviews the constrained demand information. Identifies solutions with customers, sales and supply planning to balance supply with demand. Decides what should be escalated to cross-functional S&OP meetings.
Uses and develops relevant reports and alerts to focus on areas that have issues that need to be addressed and to improve the process.
Coordinates / maintains system master data which supports the demand planning processes.
Monitors the performance of the process and continually improves insightfulness of output, efficiency of review, and accuracy of content.
Captures variances between actual and planned demand. Identifies, documents, and corrects for root causes of variances.
Captures variances between new and prior demand plans. Tracks and documents trends and major shifts for concise explanation to subsequent stakeholders.
Works closely with key customers to understand the drivers of demand
Provides training on demand management processes and tools as needed.
Supports the budget process
Proactively maintains demand scenarios to aid in communication and planning of what-if scenarios
Coordinates explanation demand-caused extended leadtimes.
Back-up other Demand Managers and Supply Planners as needed.
Eight + years experience in S&OP, IBP, SIOP or Supply Chain in complicated regional environments
Proven ability to lead through influence
Experience in a closed loop ERP system environment
Ability to articulate the demand based on different business scenarios (launches, capacity expansion, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft, demand planning software for example: SAP APO/IBP, Logility, Manugistics, ToolsGroup, Kinaxis. BI tools (SAP BI, Power BI, Tableau, Cliq)
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
Must possess strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast paced environment
Must possess Intermediate or better PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite products and email programs such as Microsoft Outlook
Ability to travel up to 10%
