The Demand Planning Analyst supports the demand planning process by developing and maintaining accurate forecasts, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role is critical in ensuring that inventory levels are optimized to meet customer demand while minimizing costs. The Analyst will utilize statistical tools and methodologies to provide insights and support decision-making within the supply chain.
Responsibilities
Forecasting and Analysis:
Develop and maintain demand forecasts using historical data, market trends, and input from sales and marketing.
Assist in the creation of short-term and long-term demand forecasts at various levels of aggregation.
Analyze forecast accuracy and recommend adjustments to improve reliability.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and support the development of strategies to align inventory with demand forecasts.
Identify potential stockouts or excess inventory situations and recommend corrective actions.
Assist in the analysis of inventory metrics and performance indicators.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams to gather data and insights for demand planning.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to review and align on demand forecasts.
Communicate demand planning insights and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Process Improvement:
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the demand planning process.
Assist in the implementation of best practices and process standardization.
Maintain and update demand planning documentation, including procedures and training materials.
Data Management and Reporting:
Utilize demand planning software and tools to manage and analyze data.
Prepare regular reports and dashboards to track forecast accuracy, inventory levels, and other key metrics.
Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required to support business needs.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree with 3+ years work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree
Prefer Masters with 1+ years of experience
Minimum of 3 year of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or a related supply chain role.
Proficiency in demand planning software (e.g., SAP APO, JDA, Oracle Demantra) and strong Excel skills.
Job Specific Competencies
Basic knowledge of statistical forecasting methods and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
APICS or other relevant supply chain certification is a plus but not required.
