This role is responsible for all aspects that pertain to the development and accurate management of sales forecasting for James Avery Retail, Direct Sales and a growing Wholesale business. The key function is to monitor, analyze and forecast product trends and casual factors into an 18-month rolling SKU level forecast throughout the product life-cycle. This position will closely collaborate with departments such as Merchandising and Marketing as well as provide insight and leadership to our supply chain team. This person should possess above average statistical, analytical, and organizational skills.


  • Ownership of the forecast function including creating, monitoring and modifying the rolling 18-month sales forecast at the SKU level for James Avery core business and as required wholesale channels.

  • Represent assigned channels in key business planning reviews with senior leadership as part of our Integrated Business Planning process.

  • Collaborate with Merchandising Department to provide initial forecast for all new items or product categories under consideration and where possible, obtain consensus prior to Business review. Present all applicable historical statistics to represent recommendations.

  • During peak sales seasons, lead a cross functional supply/demand team to identify early trends and ensure appropriate risk mitigation actions are taken.

  • Assemble, analyze, and present all data pertinent to creating the sales forecasting including historical sales, market trends, seasonality, promotion, collaboration with the Inventory Planner to ensure supply chain requirements are accurately represented in advanced supply change planning system.

  • Measure and report difference between forecast and actual demand, analyze cause and effect and recommend adjustments to the forecast based on changes in demand and market trends. Collaborate cross functionally to alert key stakeholders to atypical changes in short, medium and long-term forecasts.

  • Provide direction and priority to Associate Planners to ensure system accuracy. Develop training materials as required.

  • As part of our product obsolescence process, provide input as well as ensure required system updates occur.

  • As required, contribute insight in wholesale assortment planning by making recommendations for inclusions of items to line, or and style outs based on historical sales data with consideration to James Avery rank of sales and/or turn.

  • Identify opportunities, develop opinions and make recommendations that will increase business profitability

  • Monitor native statistical forecasting accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement. When required, lead system tuning initiatives to optimize forecast accuracy.

  • Represent the Forecasting and DRP team in cross functional meetings as necessary.

  • Observe all safety regulations; participate in safety training; report all unsafe conditions to the appropriate company personnel.

  • Adhere to Company policies including but not limited to the Attendance Guideline, Freedom from Harassment and Employee Discount Guideline


  • Education- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field; and 3 to 5 years of Demand/Supply Planning experience or equivalent education/experience.

  • Strong proficiency in statistical based forecasting methods.

  • Experience in Planning and Analysis- capability to collect and analyze data to find causal relationships and form recommendations.

  • Experience working with Merchandising and Marketing functions is strongly desired.

  • Computer Skills- Advanced level in Microsoft Excel is required (formulas such as VLOOKUP's, sum functions, linking sheets, creating charts, and pivot tables, "And/Or operators). Data base management knowledge and practical applications is preferred.

  • Experience in Demantra planning tool preferred.

  • Aptitude to quickly learn and utilize systems.

  • Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write correspondence and speak effectively with various employees from different departments and levels of the organization.

  • Time management skills- Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage frequent interruptions. Organized; self-motivated; ability to independently prioritize / coordinate multiple tasks. Ability to work with limited supervision.

  • Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Mathematical Skills- Advanced Math, Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as contribution, diminishing return, and apply concepts of business math such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.

  • The ability to quickly learn new technology.

  • Possess strong problem diagnosis skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn, and contributes to a positive team spirit.

  • Pass a background check as well as an alcohol, controlled substance, and illegal drug screen that meets Company standards before beginning regular employment.
