We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual to build their career with our Transportation Department as a Delivery Driver. This is a dynamic role where you will be a key part of our Transportation Team with objectives including:

  • Safe and timely delivery and unloading of products to customers within an assigned route

  • Strict adherence to DOT Regulations and Nicholas and Company Safety Policies

  • Demonstrating excellent customer service

What its like to work in the Transportation Department at Nicholas and Company

  • Flexibility is key; team members should be open to working voluntary and mandatory extra hours and to working at a fast pace.

  • Our trucks includes dry, cooler and freezer storage. Well provide your uniform and appropriate shoes, but be prepared to work in temperatures as low as -10.

  • This position is physically demanding. It will require you to lift, bend, and navigate heavy product down a ramp repetitively during your route

On a normal day/night you might:

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip in accordance with DOT regulations and Company procedures

  • Operate PeopleNet computer to track stops and location

  • Safely operate and deliver product within assigned route schedule using hand cart or by hand

  • Transport product on ramps, stairs and/or docks

  • Place product in designated customer delivery area

  • Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem solving skills; report customer issues immediately

  • Obey all traffic rules and immediately report accidents or damage; report repair issues immediately

  • Immediately notify supervisor/sales etc. for any delivery variance via PeopleNet

  • Maintain sanitary conditions and meet standard hygiene requirements

  • Check invoices for credit terms at each stop and collect funds when needed

  • Collect, sign, and correctly code all invoices

  • Turn in reconciliation sheet along with collected funds and invoices to Driver Check-In on a daily basis

On some days/nights you might:

  • Operate a tractor trailer in traffic and in variable weather conditions

  • Participate in formalized training and successfully pass evaluations

  • Must be flexible to travel and work both night and day routes

An ideal Transportation team member:

  • Is at least 21 years old

  • Possesses a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License with clean MVR (no more than one ticket)

  • Meets all DOT requirements and possess current medical card

  • Has one year of commercial driving experience

  • Is able to read, write and communicate with internal team members and customers as it relates to the job and to safety regulations

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic math skills

  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Must be able to lift 20-100 lbs. repetitively

Hourly Pay Rate:

  • $18.00-$21.00 per hour plus incentive after training

  • Hourly pay rate is determined by location

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for operating team-issued shuttle bus following standard operating procedures, and assume responsibility for the safety of customers and equipment. * Provide teams with prompt, reliable, and customer-service oriented experience throughout the door-to-door process. * Report for assigned shift on time and meet schedule demands. * Perform standard pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections, and communicate any concerns to supervisors immediately. * Safety and customer service are the top priority!
