Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Make deliveries to customer job sites while adhering to all safety procedures. Load inventory on truck and unload at customer site.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Performs routine inspections of vehicles and supplies to ensure road safety.

  • Plans route to and from customers' businesses and adjusts for traffic and/or construction.

  • Ensures that manifests are complete and accurate.

  • Delivers merchandise to customers and contacts customers if they are not present.

  • Loads truck with daily merchandise to be delivered and unloads merchandise for customers.

  • Pulls orders to match manifests.

  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Provides assistance to resolve customer issues.

Nature and Scope

  • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.

  • Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment

  • Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort.

  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED,strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Manually loads and unloads delivery truck, verifies parts loaded and unloaded, collects payments from customers, obtains signatures from receiving locations confirming accuracy of parts unloaded/loaded and delivers returned items back to the branch. Essential Job Duties: 1. Drives a Company vehicle in a safe, courteous and responsible manner avoiding traffic violations and accidents. 2. Physically loads Company truck at the branch and verifies the condition of the truck, the manifest and other paperwork associated with the deliveries to be made. 3. Drives to the delivery destination and physically unloads the truck, verifies parts unloaded, obtains signature of receiving location confirming the accuracy of parts shown on the order and those received and signs off on the integrity of what was loaded at the location. 4. Makes proper notations on the manifest and provides receipts on parts being returned from customers to the branch. 5. Picks up buy out purchase orders from vendors on vendor "fill in" purchase orders and delivers parts back to the branch or customer. 6. Collects accounts receivable, as necessary. 7. Works in such a manner as to prevent shortages and damage to products. 8. Complies with established Company policies and procedures. 9. Assumes other duties as assigned. Possess the ability to perform basic math calculations, interpret road maps, effectively communicate on an interpersonal verbal basis and proficiently use telephones. Must be able to work in cooperation with others. Must be attentive to detail and ensure accuracy in work assignments. Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment: This position requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, climbing and ascending/descending stairs. Requires sitting for relatively long periods of time, while driving. It also requires frequent bending, climbing, movement and lifting of up to 75 pounds during physical loading/unloading of trucks and when stocking products. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, as well as an office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud. Should not have any lifting restrictions and must not be afraid of heights. Should be able to tolerate high and low temperature levels and occasional inclement driving conditions.
