This program is designed to prepare participants to work in a diverse environment while fostering a climate of inclusivity. The program cultivates DEI leaders to meaningfully contribute to and lead DEI efforts on campus and in their future workplaces. The program has expanded significantly since its inception in 2017.
The DEI Certificate Program is seeking a collaborative, energetic, enthusiastic, hands-on, innovative and well-organized program specialist who embraces creative work in a fast-paced environment. The program specialist will significantly contribute to all aspects of the program's mission; including cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive community of scholars and advancing Rackham Graduate School's Strategic Vision. This position provides program coordination and student support for the DEI Certificate participants and would take responsibility for managing all associated administrative tasks. The program specialist reports to the Program Lead Senior who leads the DEI Certificate program.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 3-year term-limited position with renewal contingent upon the success of the program, completion of performance expectations and available funding.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist with the development, planning and implementation of all DEI Certificate student workshops and training
Manage the online dashboard to track program participant progress in collaboration with Rackham ITS team, including approving all submitted reflection forms
Assist with the collection and analysis of program data, maintain program records and monitor student progress
Work with the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) manager at Trotter Multicultural Center to compile and analyze program evaluation data
Serve as an advocate, resource and point of contact for program participants
Create and manage a menu of outreach activities and virtual learning opportunities for program participants
Serve as a liaison for the DEI certificate program and communicate and/or attend meetings with established partners across the university, i.e. The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), The Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT), National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID), etc.
Develop and lead various virtual community building activities among DEI Certificate participants
Facilitate and lead workshops and meaningful learning experiences for the DEI Certificate curriculum
Lead small group meetings of students in their respective "tracks" (research, teaching, service and engagement, leadership and collaboration)
Work in collaboration with the program lead and university partners to develop an online platform to broaden the scope of the program's reach
Work in collaboration with the program lead and university partners (i.e., The Program on Intergroup Relations) to develop a graduate student Intercultural Dialogue Series
Assist with the implementation and launch of new programs and special projects
Draft regular announcements to certificate program participants in collaboration with Rackham Communications team and program lead
Collaborate with Rackham Communication team to develop ideas for using video, social media and marketing to connect with students and promote the program
Assist in the design of marketing and promotion materials in collaboration with Rackham Communications team and program lead
Provide feedback on the diversity statements submitted by program participants to fulfill the certificate capstone assignment
Hold office hours with DEI certificate participants

Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Demonstrated background knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Experience with issues in graduate education, student development, and DEI in higher education
An understanding of the challenges faced by underrepresented and marginalized populations in higher education
Ability to effectively and efficiently develop and execute several key projects
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to collaborate effectively on a team
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, prioritization, and follow-through
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work and communicate effectively and professionally with the University community as well as external community partners
Ability to work collaboratively and independently, as the task requires
Master's Degree in a related field
Two years' experience in a higher education environment with demonstrated progressively increased responsibility
Familiarity and experience with Rackham DEI student programming
Strong computer skills and experience utilizing technology to deliver programs and services virtually
Experience teaching, facilitating workshops and/or facilitating dialogue programs, both virtually and in person
Demonstrated skill in fostering new relationships and marshalling professional networks
Experience with fostering, planning and delivering virtual community engagement in various formats
Experience using Canvas Learning Management System
