The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) is seeking an DEI and Talent Development Manager. IDSA is a community of over 13,000 physicians, scientists and public health experts who specialize in infectious diseases. Under the supervision of the Vice President, Talent and Organizational Development, the DEI and Talent Development Manager provides support for IDSA's multi-year Roadmap and Strategy implementation to spearhead initiatives to advance application of a diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive organizational culture for IDSA members and staff. This position will also work across the organization and with IDSA members to provide guidance, support, and resources to advance key priorities. The DEI and Talent Development Manager is responsible for the design and implementation of associated training initiatives to support employees' growth and organizational strategic goals. This role will partner with the VP to assess organizational needs, to drive continuous improvement grounded in data analysis.

The ideal candidate is a progressive and innovative thinker who is passionate about inclusion, diversity, access, and equity (IDA&E), has strong project and program management skills, and excels in talent development and training facilitation within a growing organization.

Qualifications

Program and Project Oversight: Member-facing

  • Manages the implementation of a multi-year Roadmap and ensures short and mid-range objectives are met; works with stakeholders across the organization to help ensure integration of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access principles; contributes to the planning and execution of long-range goals

  • Partners with Vice President of Talent and Organizational Development to plan IDA&E Committee efforts (contributes subject matter knowledge, plan internal and external meetings, ensures documentation and follow-up on action items)

  • Fosters and maintains relationships for collaboration on IDA&E initiatives; ensures appropriate and timely staff and member-facing communications regarding efforts.

Program and Project Oversight: Member-and-staff-facing

  • Develops and implements timely project plans to advance organizational practices.

  • Researches best practices to establish sound and innovative processes, practices, and programs

  • Implements and monitors measurement and reporting systems to track progress and impact

  • Provides advice, tools, and resources to staff and member groups

Learning & Development: Staff-facing

  • Implements outcomes-driven learning activities that support competency development and engagement through facilitated sessions, coaching and curated resources. Subject areas include (but are not limited to) management skills.

  • Facilitates and manage annual planning for peer learning community.

  • Plans and implements timely staff communication on IDA&E efforts

  • Stays up-to-date and informed on DEI best practices

  • Performs other duties and related projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; advanced degree is a plus; equivalent work experience can be submitted

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience with at least three years of progressive experience designing and implementing diversity, inclusion, and equity workstreams and learning programs

  • Demonstrated knowledge of related subject matter and overseeing multiple workstreams

  • At least 2 years of experience managing projects or programs of similar nature

  • Experience designing and leading progressive and practical learning sessions strongly desired

  • Ability to engage collaboratively among stakeholders; excellent relational and emotional intelligence skills and proven ability to work with diverse cultures, styles, and preferences

  • Strong understanding of IDA&E subject matter and practices as key drivers of IDSA core values

  • Demonstrated (or ability to learn) fundamental instructional design; to create practical and innovative solutions that drive behavioral change for employees at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

  • Excellent decision-making skills; ability to lead, manage, and support change effectively

  • Ability to effectively manage projects or programs throughout their lifecycle including ability to create detailed project plans; ability to work independently and coordinate multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Excellent organizational and research skills and attention to detail

  • Strong analytical, proactive, and critical thinking skills; strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High level of initiative

  • Ability to design and deliver impactful educational sessions

  • Intermediate level proficiency in working with Microsoft Office

  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn systems or computer applications

  • Ability to leverage data & analytics (assessment, analysis, and reporting) to support initiatives

Additional Qualifications: (Such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)

  • Experience in nonprofit sector a plus

  • Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time

Physical Demands

  • This position requires sitting and/or standing at a desk, prolonged sitting and bending and lifting during travel, as well as extensive sitting, standing, walking, and lifting during IDWeek.

  • This role also requires access to stable internet, and ability to spend several hours on the computer.
