The position of Defense Travel Specialist-Accounting Clerk II will review all travel authorizations and travel vouchers for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, and compliance with regulations for official Government travel. The DTS specialist will make required corrections to travel authorizations and travel vouchers as required and a monthly status report will be provided.

Duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting travelers with questions related to DTS in person, email and via phone.

  • Resolving problems or assisting individuals with signing and approving authorizations and vouchers.

  • Providing current status of authorizations and vouchers to travelers.

  • Providing over the shoulder or phone support to help travelers complete authorizations and vouchers.

  • Performing administrative tasking and administrative corrections.

Qualifications

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of the rules and regulations governing the performance of official Government travel and subsequent allowances and entitlements.

  • Knowledge of accounting and travel systems, standard accounting codes, classifications, and terminology and theability to apply various accounting and travel methods and techniques

  • Skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing with personnel across NSWC PCD

  • Ability to obtain/pass Public Trust background clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years experience with Joint Travel Regulations for Uniformed Service Members and DoD Civilian Employees

  • Experience with DoD Financial Management Regulation Travel Policy, DoD 7000.14-R, Volume 9

  • Prior experience at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City (NSWC PCD).
