Role Summary:

The Decision Science Strategy Consultant role resides with the Business Analytics and Data Strategy team, which is a key player in VCI's Mobility transformation through providing analytical direction that helps shape future strategy.

The Decision Science Strategy Consultant will work cross-functionally across the organization in order to set and achieve strategic objectives. To do so, you will collaborate with a variety of business units to develop use cases that deliver value through applied analytics. We are looking someone who is a curious collaborative creator that is energized by seeing statistical models live and thrive outside of the laboratory. You are skilled at working cross functionally with technical and business personnel in order to get the best out of both. This is a new position, in a new team, with the unique opportunity to pave the way for applied analytics within our organization.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Use case development and management (45%)
  • Project management (15%)
  • Presentation (25%)
  • Data Analysis (15%)

Responsibilities will include:

  • Building use cases for new analytics product concepts.

  • Maintain and continually refine a backlog of use cases, feature requests, and defects.

  • Building the data framework to track product KPIs and success metrics.

  • Collaborating with various functional business areas to gather and document business requirements.

  • Leading small to medium teams by example to achieve project goals and complete major deliverables

  • Back-testing use case assumptions with post-deployment data

  • Aid in the dissemination of business analysis best practices throughout the organization

  • On occasion, technically participate in analytical projects

Experience:

Required

  • 7 years of experience
  • 3 years in data science
  • 3 years consulting
  • 2 years project management

Education:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or similar quantitative domain

Desired

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, Economics

  • Demonstrated track record of driving business results in an analytical environment

  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to use data and logic to make compelling business cases

  • Strong understanding of statistical methodologies and techniques utilized for analyzing large datasets

  • Ability to decompose complex business problems into their constituent parts

  • Ability to use innate curiosity to collaborate with different business units to co-create solutions

  • Blend of strategic and tactical thinking, creative and analytic reasoning

  • Passion for data analysis and problem solving

  • A fantastic storyteller who is at ease presenting to, and can influence, senior executives

  • Ability to distill complex analytical techniques to layperson

  • Comfortable working with tight deadlines; must be proactive and able to multi-task.

  • Successful record of accomplishment of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment.

  • Strong communication skills across all mediums and audience types (technical, business, executive, etc.)

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and complexity

Specialized Skills:

Required

  • Advanced analytics in Python and/or R

  • Working knowledge of Tableau

  • Expert in PowerPoint, Visio and Excel

Desired

  • Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Postgres, etc

  • Experience in Financial Services (automotive finance preferable)

  • Project management certification (Agile, Scrum, Kanban)

Work Flexibility:

  • Travel 10% of the time
