Purpose of the Job

Provide decision support for business areas across the enterprise. Staff in this area will be responsible for applying mathematical and statistical techniques and/or innovative /quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change. The essence of work performed by the Decision Science Analyst involves gathering, manipulating and synthesizing data (e.g., attributes, transactions, behaviors, etc.), models and other relevant information to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.

Job Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverages business/analytical knowledge to understand business objectives.

  • The business problems analyzed are typically segments of a larger problem with significant impact to current and/or future business strategy.

  • Applies quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer the business objective and drive the appropriate change.

  • Understands scientific approaches to problem solving.

  • May translate recommendations into communication materials to effectively present to colleagues for peer review and l and senior/lead analysts.

  • Incorporates visualization techniques to support the relevant points of the analysis and ease the understanding for less technical audiences.

  • Supports identifying and gathering the relevant and quality data sources required to fully answer and address the problem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratory data analysis (EDA).

  • Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews.

  • Subsequent analysts should be able to rely on documentation to replicate and continue work.

  • Delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences up to mid level management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences or other quantitative discipline

OR 4 years work experience in statistics, mathematics or quantitative analytics or related experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum years of work experience required.

  • Up to 2 years of experience in a decision support analytic function.

  • Foundational knowledge of statistical/mathematical decision making and/or testing methodologies.

  • Demonstrates foundational knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques and approaches used to drive fact-based decision-making.

  • Experience developing presentations and communications documents.

  • Knowledge of data analysis tools, developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.

  • Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years Analytics experience

  • 2+ years requirements gathering experience

  • 2+ years internal or external customer facing experience

  • Thorough understanding of the Data Life Cycle

  • At least 1 year of audit experience - either on an audit team or interfacing with audit

  • Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level*

On this team you will have the opportunity to conduct in-depth research and analysis on Bank and Channel data to drive insights on channel performance and member experience in order to influence the decisions and strategy for our distribution channels (dotcom, Mobile, Contact Center, Chat and Physical Presence).
