Deception Pass State Park Area is the busiest and arguably the most beautiful and diverse state park in all of Washington. Member will educate youth groups and general park visitors about marine life, forest environments, cultural history, and other natural and historical subjects throughout Deception Pass State Park.
Member will perform various park protective projects, such as noxious weed removal and other activities. Member will present programs at specific locations; studying various environments. Service includes extensive public education talks at the park in group settings, in tidepools, along trails, at our 300-seat amphitheater, and in schools.
It includes developing interpretive signs and brochures, writing monthly newsletter articles, and providing other interpretive activities. The member schedules, trains, and organizes many volunteers to become beach naturalists and to serve on special projects in the park. Through interpretation, visitors will be better educated to take care of the park and community, and this park will be better protected.
Reduced cost housing might be available. This is a service opportunity that provides a living stipend. Educational assistance award available upon successful program completion.
