Dean's Associate

Amani Public Charter School is seeking a dedicated Dean's Associate to join our Culture Team and Dean's Office for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a positive school culture with a strong emphasis on scholar achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students in their personal and social development to promote positive behavioral outcomes

• Monitor and manage student contracts and checklists to track progress and ensure success

• Collaborate with staff and teachers in working groups to plan, problem-solve, and provide ongoing support

• Oversee class transitions, lunch periods, recess, detention, in-school suspension, and scholars outside of class

• Maintain accurate logs, track disciplinary issues, and complete necessary paperwork

• Implement and follow up on the school's discipline code for scholars, families, and staff

• Respond to and support students in crisis situations, providing de-escalation interventions as needed

• Consistently uphold school-wide expectations and behavior management systems

• Contribute insights on effective strategies for positive school culture and individual scholar support

• Provide direct supervision of students throughout the school day

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required

• 2+ years of experience in an educational setting, preferably in student support roles

• Strong understanding of child development and behavior management techniques

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

• Proficiency in data management and record-keeping

• Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills

Highly Desirable:

• Experience with positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS) systems

• Familiarity with restorative justice practices in education

• Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies

Schedule & Commitment:

• School day 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday

• School year mid-August through late June

• Ability to commute and work in-person in Mount Vernon, NY
