Department Summary

The UNT System College of Pharmacy (COP) was established in 2013. The COP is committed to developing patient-centered pharmacy professionals trained in an interprofessional environment. COP advocates a team healthcare concept coupled with optimizing health through discovery. Areas of research innovation in the College include health outcomes, drug discovery, and development. The College was recognized nationally for its rapid growth in total research rankings among pharmacy schools, rising from No. 54 in 2019 to No. 36 in 2021.

The global vision of the College of Pharmacy is to be an extraordinary team committed to a culture of excellence, innovation, equity, and collaboration to improve health.

The motto, "We make healthcare better," reflects the increasing contribution to healthcare that can be provided by PharmD-trained pharmacists in the highly interprofessional and primary care environment present at the HSC Fort Worth. Our focus is on the patient. Making healthcare better crucially depends upon improved teamwork of a variety of healthcare professionals and improved access for patients. Doctors of Pharmacy involved in disease and medication management make healthcare better by increasing safety, improving outcomes, and reducing costs.

The motto also extends to the contributions that our faculty, postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and research staff make to the development of new and more effective therapies for the promotion of health and treatment of disease.

The UNT System College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
