Participate in the management of the University and its academic programs as a member of the Council of Administrators and Deans Council.
Provide overall leadership, direction, and management of faculty, staff and students within the College of Education; plan and monitor overall budget for the College; implement and enforce contractual requirements as defined in labor/management agreements and University and system policy. Provide overall leadership to the WSU Children's Center.
Supervise the College of Education departments and program directors as they exercise their responsibilities to plan, to propose/recommend/ monitor budgets, to recruit, employ and assign faculty/staff and to oversee the development, improvement and retention of these programs.
Promote and support faculty and staff professional development and training; assess and evaluate overall outcomes and performance.
Lead the College assessment effort and the development of outcome measures needed by accrediting and licensing agencies.
Lead the College in curriculum development and revision to prepare teachers for the 21st century.
Manage the recruitment, selection and supervision of faculty and staff in the College of Education; assure diversity initiatives are realized.
Represent the interests and concerns of the University at conferences and professional meetings at the MnSCU system, state and national level. Participate in university, MnSCU, and national committees and councils.

Earned doctorate degree in one of the disciplines reflected in the college from a regionally accredited institution.
At least 5 years of demonstrated successful and progressive experience in higher education including both administrative (e.g. program director, department chair, associate dean) and full-time teaching.
Strong demonstrated skills in leadership, budgeting, office management, resource management, and affirmative action practices in a collective bargaining environment.
Experience with national accreditation.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; public speaking.
Effective organizational and project management skills.
A record of research and publication or other scholarly or creative achievements.
Demonstrated knowledge of education that reflects the breadth of the College of Education programs and initiatives (P-12 teacher preparation, counselor education, educational leadership, recreation and tourism).
Demonstrated knowledge of political and academic trends and issues in the broader field of education.
Experience with alternative instructional environments (e.g. distance education, experiential education, travel study, use of educational technologies).
Demonstrated knowledge of teacher licensure processes and procedures.
Ability to guide assessment and outcome measure needed by accrediting and licensing agencies.
Experience in securing and managing external grants and other sources of funding.
Demonstrated skills working in a culturally diverse setting; strong commitment to diversity.
Ability to work with other academic administrators to guide the development of the university.
