Job Description:

The Dean of Student Affairs reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The dean is an active member of the university leadership team and provides oversight in the areas of student engagement and leadership, student judicial affairs, residential life, new student programs, counseling and/or health services and all student activities.

The Dean, in collaboration with senior administration, creates and implements the strategic plan for student affairs. They are responsible for the oversight of institutional effectiveness and assessment plans within the division and serves as a chair of a campus-wide early intervention team for LSUE.

Duties and Responsibilities:

40% Educates and advises students on university and division policies and procedures, legal issues, risk management, program planning, and outreach. Oversees all student organizations, clubs, and activities and ensures high quality content and compliance with LSUE policies and procedures.

Serves as the staff representative for LSUE's Student Government Association (SGA) to ensure access and awareness of opportunities for all students

20% Provides Leadership and support personnel for all campus-wide activities and events comprising student affairs and enrollment management divisions such as Bengal Day, student orientation, commencement activities, honors convocation, high school district contests, etc.

10% Serves as the Chief Student Affairs Officer for all student code of conduct issues and works in collaboration with campus Title IX Officer and LSUE Police Department. Provides support and guidance for students to access behavioral and physical health services, career services, and any other services provided by state or federal resources. Serves as the key student governance Staff representative on university committees.

10% Supervises, directs, and evaluates LSUE's residential operations, the development of living/learning communities, and the implementation of effective student life programs for residents of Bengal Village.

10% Supervises, directs, and evaluates LSUE's outreach, recruitment, and financial aid departments.

5% In partnership with the director of institutional effectiveness, implements the assessment and evaluation of all student affairs programs/functions.

5% Creates and implements professional development plans for all employees and provides individual and team coaching.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution

At least 3 years of experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D

Doctoral Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited educational institution.

At least 5 years of experience in higher education student affairs leadership.

Demonstrated experience in student affairs programs and/or leadership. Experience working with traditional, non-traditional and on-line learners.

Special and/or Physical Qualifications:

Sitting and/or standing long periods throughout the day.

Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs. during the day.

Salary: $80,000-$95,000
