Reports to: Director of Career and Technical Education

Position Goal:

Assists the Director of Career and Technical Education in fulfilling responsibilities as an educational leader. The Coordinator will support the running of the CTE program, ensuring it aligns with school and district goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Support and Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Director to develop, coordinate, and supervise all CTE in-service training and professional development.

  • Assist in the hiring process for new instructors and support staff within the CTE department.

  • Ensure adherence to all OSHA, state, and local safety regulations and guidelines.

  • Support the Director in the development, management, and administration of the Cooperative Education (CO-OP) program, ensuring compliance with M.G.L. Chapter 74, Section 4.09. Responsibilities include:

  • Screening and selecting students for the CO-OP program based on grades, attendance, recommendations, and job readiness.

  • Acting as the primary contact between CO-OP employers and the school, conducting CORI checks on employers, facilitating job placements, and resolving any issues that arise during employment.

  • Organizing CO-OP seminars aligned with the Career and Technical Education Frameworks, focusing on employability skills.

  • Conducting supervisory visits to workplaces to monitor student progress and employer satisfaction.

  • Ensuring all placements comply with safety regulations, including CORI checks for employers and proper job orientation and Workers' Compensation insurance for students.

  • Managing and distributing the Cooperative Education Student Weekly Journal Timecard, collecting and processing evaluation cards from students and employers, and maintaining accurate records of student attendance and performance.

  • Operations Management

  • Design and manage school operational systems including arrival and dismissal procedures, class transitions, food systems, student enrollment, and staff coverage.

  • Present professional development and training for staff on key operational routines and procedures.

  • Oversee data systems, ensuring fidelity in attendance, enrollment, and report card processes.

  • Maintain and update school handbooks for families, staff, students, and crisis management.

  • Represent the school on the District Crisis Team, maintaining safety protocols.

  • Ensure a clean, safe, and culturally responsive school environment through collaboration with the Head Custodian.

III. School Climate and Culture

  • Build and implement operational systems that protect instructional time and reinforce positive school culture.

  • Perform regular audits of the physical space to ensure it reflects the school's values and mission.

  • Be highly present and visible during school hours, modeling core values and professional behavior standards.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • DESE certification as Vocational Supervisor/Director, Supervisor/Academic, or Principal/Assistant Principal preferable but not required.

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution preferable but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Chapter 74 and occupational education regulations.

  • Ability to implement and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.

  • Ability to support instructors in improving their classroom and lab practices.

  • Strong organizational and data management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, staff, families, and community partners.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate various equipment, including computers and copiers.

  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and to stand, crouch, and bend over for extended periods.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
