Position: Dean of Academic Support
Location: West Lincoln High School
Terms of Contract: 10 months (5 days), full-time, benefit eligible
Reports To: Principal
Monthly Salary: NC Teacher State Salary Schedule (plus 10.75% local supplement)
FLSA: EXEMPT
Qualifications/Requirements: Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in the appropriate licensure area.
Master's degree preferred. A minimum of five years of teaching experience in high school, with prior experience in instructional technology facilitation or instructional coaching, is highly desired. Proficiency with Canvas LMS, APEX, and other educational technology platforms.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and collaborate with educators and students. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in using data analysis tools like Excel and spreadsheets. Proven experience in leading professional development and delivering engaging presentations.
A deep passion for supporting educators and promoting student success. Ability to self-start, adapt to changing educational landscapes, and inspire educational excellence in others.
Goal: To provide support with the integration of technology, and instructional practices within all educational environments.
This multifaceted role focuses on enhancing teaching effectiveness and student achievement through innovative use of technology and data-driven instructional strategies. The dean is committed to fostering a collaborative, supportive atmosphere that empowers educators and students to embrace and leverage digital tools for learning.
Duties:
Instructional Support: assist the principal in developing and implementing instructional strategies and technologies that foster engaging, personalized learning experiences for students. Develop and teach model instructional activities for students and/or staff.
Experience working with the College Board, including Advanced Placement and ACT.
Beginning Teacher Support: serve as a mentor to novice teachers, guiding them in effective technology use and classroom management techniques.
Instructional Data Analysis: collect, analyze, and interpret instructional data to inform teaching practices and improve student outcomes. Support teachers in the application of data to tailor instruction.
Professional Development and Coaching: develop and lead professional development initiatives to help educators integrate technology and 21st-century skills into their instruction. Provide coaching and mentorship to teachers to enhance digital literacy and pedagogical strategies.
Digital Resource Management: evaluate, select, and manage digital instructional programs and tools that support and enrich the curriculum. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of digital resources.
Community and School Engagement: attend and actively participate in district and school-based meetings, advocating for the integration of technology in education. Engage with the wider educational community to share best practices and innovations.
Deciphers differentiation and intervention needs in a classroom and assists teachers in the implementation of these interventions in their lessons.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Adept at problem-solving especially in a group setting and the ability to work with a wide range of audiences.
Communicate regularly with all staff including administration to grow all students academically.
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
