MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

We are seeking a qualified candidate with the following minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited institution college or university. The appropriate degree should meet the requirements of college accrediting agencies.

  • Hold appropriate, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.

  • At least three to five years' experience working in an academic unit in higher education within the past seven years.

  • Experience in a supervisory role in education and industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Dean for Academic Affairs, you will oversee all aspects of the academic unit of Nursing programs to include Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, Nursing Bridge, Nurse Aide, Allied Health Professions Degree and Healthcare Assistant.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and organizing the unit's work to meet the technical college's objectives.

  • Supervising and evaluating the performance of all full- and part-time faculty and staff within the nursing units.

  • Reviewing and approving all requests for supplies and materials.

  • Preparing the instructional program specifications and budget.

  • Representing the department at various internal and external meetings.

  • Developing and implementing an educational plan for all campus locations to ensure adequate staff, space, and materials.

  • Addressing and resolving complaints and needs of students, faculty, staff, and outside customers.

  • Serving as a liaison to departments of the technical college.

  • Promoting the satellite campus programs to public and private organizations to support expanded services and facilities.

  • Attending campus program advisory meetings.

  • Providing leadership for committees, special projects, and initiatives as assigned.

  • Developing and/or assisting with the development of policies and procedures and recommending changes to meet the goals and requirements of the College.

  • Conducting regular evaluations of services provided and adjusting as needed.

  • Completing other duties as assigned.

  • Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The endowed chairholder will serve as a technical education faculty member and Dean of Academic Affairs in the Nursing Division at SCTC. The endowed chairholder will teach one class each fall, spring, and summer semester, and provide leadership within SCTC's Nursing Division. This individual will play a significant role in developing innovative academic programs and collaborating with the allied health nursing sector to enhance workforce capabilities.

In addition to serving the allied health nursing community, the Connie Allen Kendrick Endowed Chair in Teaching and Workforce Development for Nursing also recognizes the importance of engaging with the K-12 sector. Through partnerships and outreach initiatives, this program aims to inspire and prepare students at all levels for careers in Nursing.

The primary goal of the Connie Allen Kendrick Endowed Chair in Teaching and Workforce Development for Nursing is to create new opportunities for the allied health Nursing sector to participate in workforce development initiatives facilitated by SCTC while emphasizing the importance of preparing students for future career opportunities.

  • Proficiency in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

SALARY:

Salary will be commensurate with education and work experience. Additional benefits include paid state holidays, paid annual and sick leave, and participation in the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
