Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Vice President for Student Learning, the Dean for Student Learning independently develops, implements, markets, assesses, and manages the daily operations of assigned instructional and learning programs and departments. The Dean for Student Learning
Primary responsibilities include leading disciplines in developing and offering courses and programs; managing budgets, facilitating articulation with other educational institutions; assuring program integrity; promoting a supportive team environment; and providing visionary leadership for programs. This position is responsible for continuing to lead assigned work grounded in the college's strategic plan and priority initiatives. The Dean is responsible for sustaining existing recruiting, hiring, supporting, and supervising faculty and staff. The Dean also ensures all faculty assessment procedures are followed.

Employee Type: Full Time Exempt, Permanent
Intial Salary: $113,000.00 - $115,000.00 (Includes 5% King County Premium Pay) Annually DOQ
Supervising Position: Vice President for Student Learning
Essential Duties
Manages and oversees curriculum and enrollment; provides leadership and direction; creates reports; monitors compliance with various programs
Directs the activities of assigned transitional studies discipline areas: BEdA, College & Career Foundations (ESL/ELP), English
Directs and supervises the Bock Learning staff, programs, while developing strategies for student learning and success
Collaborates with other college staff
Collaborates in the development and administration of policies, procedures, and objectives
Develops, prioritizes, and manages complex budgets and grants
Supervises staff including: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations and classroom observations; monitoring faculty assessment; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures and are maintaining a healthy and safe work environment; making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions and/or recommendations
Identifies and resolves problems in assigned areas; ensures consistent application of and compliance with rules and regulations; and handles complex student complaints/issues
Facilitates, leads, and/or participates in meetings, proceedings and committees as assigned; works collaboratively with all areas of the college; develops and maintains connections with external business, community, and educational organizations, the general public and other agencies
Participates in system/state-wide transitional and pathways work
Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Learning
Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution
Teaching experience in higher education
Academic administrative experience, including roles such as department or division chair
Experience with compliance-based programs
Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment
Preferred Qualifications
Successful experience supervising instructional programs at the department/division level that support a learning organization
Teaching experience in a community college or equivalent diverse learning environment
Demonstrated leadership in diverse work or community environments
Experience in nurturing a supportive team environment
Experience managing budgets and grants
Experience using online education environments including Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas
Physical Work Environment
Semi-Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The College is currently in hybrid operations, with many assignments completed in an online environment during this time. Full-time employees are expected to be on-campus at least three (3) days per week with the option to work remotely for the remainder of their working days. Employees will need to provide their own remote workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. During on-campus operations, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus and requires the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.
Positions in this class typically require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and repetitive motions.
This position involves exerting between 10-30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to transport, put, install, remove, or otherwise move objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
