Academic Dean - Professional Services

JOB SUMMARY

The Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for monitoring student performance and progress as well as recruitment and placement efforts.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Supervises academic personnel, programs, and services;

  • Coordinates dual enrollment options for division;

  • Ensures the consistent exercise, review, and revision of academic procedures, rules, and regulations;

  • Promotes the instructional programs of the division to public and private organizations;

  • Coordinates recruitment efforts in all venues for division;

  • Works with Human Resources personnel to coordinate new faculty and staff hires; verifies appropriate faculty qualifications and credentials;

  • Orients new personnel to areas of responsibility with division;

  • Maintains related files for all personnel of division to include credential files for all instructors;

  • Oversees accreditation attainment and continuance activities;

  • Recommends curriculum changes, programs additions, and program terminations in applicable academic division to the supervisor;

  • Communicates with Vice President for Academic Affairs on activities of division;

  • Review semester course evaluations by students;

  • Reviews staff development plans of division faculty and staff;

  • Reviews and approves all requests for supplies and materials, including all curriculum materials for the programs;

  • Oversees enrollment and registration processes;

  • Addresses student and/or faculty complaints and issues;

  • Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and division procedures;

  • Develops and/or assists with the development of procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals requirements of the division;

  • Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals which includes classroom observations;

  • Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and makes adjustments as needed;

  • Maintains up-to-date procedures and state or federal laws that my impact division initiatives;

  • Provides guidance for utilization of advisory committees as related to the programs of the division;

  • Promotes articulations between division programs and secondary and postsecondary institutions;

  • Assists with classroom instruction in a limited capacity;

  • Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers, co-workers, and other public contacts;

  • Understands and exhibits conduct which builds team, unit, and college spirit and credibility;

  • Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree and three (3) years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in budget planning and financial management within an academic setting.

  • Previous experience in academic administration, such as department chair, program director, or similar roles.

  • Ability to develop and articulate a vision for the academic unit and to implement strategic plans to achieve academic goals.

  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and processes relevant to the institution or program.
