Job Summary
The Gatton College of Business and Economics is seeking a new Chief Financial and Human Resources Officer.
This position reports directly to the dean and serves as a strategic partner on the college's operating committee and the Gatton Senior Operations team. This leadership oversees a team accountable for the financial and human resource management of the college. Areas of responsibility include budgeting, accounting, financial analysis, human resources and risk management. This position will supervise a business office team which strives for continuous improvement through the refinement of business processes. In addition, a critical focus of this team is the provision of outstanding service that is timely, accurate and courteous.
Candidates for this position should have a minimum of eight years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting and human resource functions at an educational institution, a non-profit organization or private industry. Excellent understanding of financial reporting and account review, as well as an ability to forecast models and use financial data for decision making are a must.
In particular, candidates will need to have demonstrated:
A track record in budgeting and long-range financial planning
Success in managing a collaborative team
A strong background in annual, capital and endowment fund accounting
Technical competency in not-for-profit accounting, regulation and compliance
The capacity to explore trends, both within an organization and in the broader context
An understanding of cost accounting
Experience with process improvement and policy review
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to use, learn and evaluate financial software systems
Experience in human resource management
Dedication to providing exceptional customer service

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a business-related field. The ideal candidate will also possess an MBA or similar advanced degree.
