An industrial manufacturer based in Lake Forest, IL, is seeking a Payroll Manager. Role Overview:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive payroll functions of the organization, ensuring that payroll processing is executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with national regulations. The role demands strategic oversight of both weekly and biweekly payrolls across various states, effective management of payroll systems, and interaction with multiple departments to streamline processes and resolve issues.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full cycle of payroll processing, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Develop and implement efficient payroll processes and systems to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
  • Coordinate with HRIS/System Administrators to enhance payroll processes and systems configurations.
  • Provide leadership in payroll reporting and support various departments with data management and reporting needs.
  • Manage the reconciliation and timely execution of year-end activities including W-2 issuance.
  • Handle escalated payroll issues from employees and managers, providing high-level problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to integrate employees from newly acquired entities and ensure accurate data entry in the payroll system.
  • Oversee payroll audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
  • Direct management of payroll team, fostering a collaborative environment and focusing on growth and development opportunities.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of managing relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with major payroll systems, preferably ADP.

Education & Experience:

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in payroll management, specifically in a multi-state environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Payroll or related certifications are highly desirable.
