Ginkgo Bioworks is a privately held, high-growth and well-funded
biotechnology company based in Boston's Seaport District. Our mission is to

biological engineering to build custom organisms. Our products work across
the economy - from custom proteins for plant-based foods, to novel microbes

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have launched a new
service: Concentric by Ginkgo. Concentric is Ginkgo's pandemic response
program. At the core is a high scale testing business, coupled with an end-to-
end service provided to customers. We firmly believe that testing is an
essential requirement to re-open the economy as quickly and safely as
possible (see our white paper here), and anticipate that the test we aim to
offer, including an NGS-based diagnostic test still under development, will
comprise a significant portion of our national testing capacity as we scale.
As a Deal Team Strategist, you will be a core part of the Deal Team at Ginkgo.
This role will primarily support the growing Concentric by Ginkgo business.
The Deal Team is an integral part of a cross-function team, including business
development and legal, to deliver on the rapid ramp up of customer base
and to help develop and implement deals that reflect ensure business
objectives are translated into signed customer contracts. As we launch these
testing capabilities in new markets, your initiative, drive, entrepreneurship
and teamwork will shine as you adapt this offering to meet customer needs.
As issues arise, you will find creative solutions and ensure customer success - learning from each customer transaction and flowing this thinking back into
new contracts. Your role will be high impact and a critical part of our national
solution to COVID-19.
This role will report directly to the Chief Business Officer and will be exposed
to the breadth of the transaction process. In addition to supporting
Concentric, the Deal Team Strategist will also be the acting Chief of Staff for
the Deal Team and will be involved in other non-Concentric deals as a
contributor and thought-leader.

Please note: We anticipate this opportunity to be a 9-12 month, fixed-term temporary role
Develop contracting strategies and standard contracting templates for key market verticals
Close deals in conjunction with BD and Legal; propose deal terms/structure (gathering input from cross-functional team); and negotiate deals, as needed
Support BD activities, as needed, even as deals move to translation stage
Plan and coordinate communication of transaction pipeline and key terms with relevant internal stakeholders
Scale-up transaction process and drive operational excellence and
efficiency. This will involve strong stakeholder management, a broad
understanding of the transaction process, and detailed planning for
Support efforts on non-COVID related deals in variety of markets (pharma, consumer products, industrial biotech, etc); participate in deal transaction process from term sheet to closing
Tackle the most urgent and immediate problems facing the project as a whole
Potential to support other Commercial projects from our other operations
Desired Experience and Capabilities:
B.S in science field, business, or finance; MBA and/or JD a plus
Work experience in Business Development, Business Transactions, or Legal
Proven track record of project ownership and results orientation in a team setting
Strong analytical skills, with an ability to develop fact-based and informed opinions
Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and an ability to work across organizational boundaries
Exceedingly well organized and ability to multitask
Proficient financial acumen
