Number Openings: (At time of posting) 1 Contact: Kimberly Fickentsher Email: kfickentsher@spusd.net Phone: 626-441-5810 1130 Job Description / Essential Elements: Print GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: The individual serving in this position will be responsible for assisting primarily students, but sometimes staff and faculty, in the operation of equipment and software used for instructional applications in the campus computer lab; provides basic assistance in using software applications; refers users to self-help materials when appropriate; monitors inventory of computer paper, printer toner cartridges and associated supplies; replace printer toner cartridges and paper as required; implement small group and/or individual instruction in computer activities; reports to the principal any problems with computers and do basic trouble-shooting of minor problems with hardware and software. Additional duties may include but are not limited to: typing with speed and accuracy, filing instructional materials, correcting daily student work, maintaining student records, maintaining school website on a regular basis, and operation other office machines. Performs other related activities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Under current State and Federal Law, requirements include proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent to be submitted with completed application and meet one of the three requirements: A) Completion of 2 years of study (48 units) at an institution of higher learning, or B) an Associate degree or higher, or C) pass a rigorous District-administered assessment that demontrates the knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and math. EXPERIENCE: Experience with both Macintosh and Windows platforms is necessary. Proficient in utilizing computer hardware and software applications, including installation, configuration and maintenance of systems for instructional purposes. A minimum of one (1) year paid full-time employment as an instructional aide working with school age children is highly desirable. ABILITIES/SKILLS: Demonstrates an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude towards students of varied age groups; motivates students; communicate effectively in oral and written form in English; perform routine clerical tasks and operates a variety of educational and office-related machines and equipment; learns to utilize a variety of appropriate instructional materials and procedures in the enhancement of a positive educational environment; is empathetic when working with students having special needs when mainstreamed or placed in the classroom; understands and carries out oral and written directions; establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Must be conversant with microcomputers and common application software, such as the Office Suite, Internet Explorer and Netscape, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. Requires communication skills to convey technical concepts to computer users and to facilitate small group learning. Requires sufficient writing skills to develop instructions, interpretations, and learning aids. Has the ability to help lab users with various applications, such as a scanner, for OCR and graphics, digital still and video cameras, and LCD projectors. KNOWLEDGE OF: Modern office methods, practices, and equipment; the principles and procedures of personal computer systems and their related hardware and software programs. Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. OTHER: Passing grade on the State required Instructional Aide Proficiency Test.
