We are looking for experienced mortgage professionals in sales, operations and capital markets who have a passion for delivering the highest level of customer care while working in a growing, fast-paced lending business.
Reporting to the Manger of Underwriting, the DE Underwriter is responsible for examining, reviewing and evaluating the information provided by all parties, Tasked with assessing the customer's risk profile and making an informed decision to offer or decline terms, based on Homeward Residential' s loan products and guidelines. Responsible for making recommendations within personal lending authority and service level agreements. Ensuring accurate records are continuously maintained.
To accurately assess the customer's risk profile, make an informed decision and ensure that accurate records are continuously maintained while following the documented processes within service level agreements.
To refer all cases above lending authority limits to an underwriter authorized on that limit for second signature
To manage caseload within defined service levels agreements and customer service standards
To resolve underwriting queries and deliver the highest levels of customer service at all times
To ensure that all activities meet and exceed regulatory requirements in accordance with HUD, Investor, State and or Federal guidelines
To keep up to date with any Hud, State, Federal, and Agency regulation changes as well as internal Company policies and procedures
To identify trends or issues and make recommendations to improve the underwriting process, products or customer service
To maintain an awareness of the mortgage marketplace and potential impacts on our business
Other reasonable duties as requested by manager
High School Diploma, GED or military equivalent experience required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in loan underwriting - at least 3years underwriting FHA loans
Must have thorough understanding of FHA guidelines and be proficient with DO and LP
Must have an active CHUMS #
Strong decision making skills and ability to exercise judgment and make recommendations
Excellent relationship building and customer service skills
Highly organized and proven ability to work in a fast paced environment
Results driven with great administration skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Flexible team player with a 'can do' attitude
