What does a Best Buy DDC Warehouse Clerical Aide do?

To process records, enter data and prepare reports for the receiving, order processing, shipping and inventory control areas of the Delivery Distribution Center. The Warehouse Clerical Support role is typically assigned to specific areas within the Delivery Distribution Center, i.e. Receiving, Home Delivery and Installation Support, and Shipping. Therefore, the job may entail one or more of the following duties and responsibilities. The time spent on the duties varies based on the area in which the duties are performed.

Essential Functions

  • Enters, corrects and verifies data on the computer.

  • Uses spreadsheet and WMS computer programs to enter bills of lading, transfer, manifest, receiving and inventory information.

  • Verifies and corrects data as appropriate.

  • Completes Delivery Distribution Center reports (i.e. control logs, shipping logs, quality audits, cube reports, seal logs, daily receiving data log, etc.)

  • Receives information from warehouse workers, truck drivers and computer generated reports.

  • Categorizes data and summarizes onto departmental forms.

  • Distributes reports to appropriate personnel.

  • Processes Delivery Distribution Center paperwork.

  • Receives copies of freight claims from warehouse workers, verifies information against shipping documents, files copies and routes to relevant departments.

  • Completes expediter assistance requests by researching problems with purchase orders, determining and indicating source of problem and routing completed request to warehouse workers.

  • Processes orders by getting labels, recording information on batch control log and summarizing data.

  • Verifies and processes stock transfers.

  • Creates daily check-in receiving documents for receiving dock workers.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Establishes and maintains filing systems.

  • Files bill of ladings, manifests, transfers and receiving data according to date and store location.

  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

AND EITHER: 1. One year of full-time paid clerical experience performing duties comparable to the Sacramento County class of Senior Office Assistant (formerly Clerk III), or above, as described in the distinguishing characteristics and examples of duties for those classes, six months of which must have been in Sacramento County service. OR: 2. Three years of full-time paid clerical experience performing duties comparable to the Sacramento County class of Office Assistant (formerly Clerk), or above, as described in the distinguishing characteristics and examples of duties for those classes, 18 months of which must have been in Sacramento County service. NOTE: Volunteer and part-time experience are acceptable on the basis of 173.6 hours = 21.7 days = 1 work month. Note: If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements. Special Requirements For Some Positions Computer Control Operator Clause: Some positions in this class may require specific knowledge and abilities to perform the responsibilities of a Computer Control Operator for a computer operation where there is not computer or system support for day-to-day operations from the Department of Technology (formerly Systems and Data Processing Department) and no specialized class has been designated to perform these functions. These include knowledge of technical data processing and concepts and terminology; the ability to operate a computer using established procedures; understand and apply the knowledge unique to the operating department; and communicate with users who have no technical data processing background. In some cases application programming using a variety of programming languages or system utility languages may be performed by incumbents. The Computer Control Operator differs from the responsibility of using a single terminal or a limited set of procedures by its level of independence and control of the computer operating system and the order in which operations are performed and priority of work completed is established. This responsibility must comprise a significant part of the entire work assignment. The Computer Control Operator designation must be approved by the Department of Personnel Services (formerly Department of Personnel Management) from a classification and testing perspective on a position by position basis.
