The City of Springdale is currently accepting applications for the position of DEPUTY COURT CLERK. Interested persons should submit an application to the Human Resources Department no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024.

The incumbent is responsible to provide clerical work that involves responsibility for money, accuracy in data entry, filing, scheduling trial dates, maintaining records, preparing orders and arraignment reports, handling extensive public contact in a pleasant manner.

Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 7-11 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Starting salary is $36,757

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.

2.Criminal

  • Enter dispositions from court dates. Forfeit money holding in bond and check payments on the report.

3.Pre-arraignment Settlement

  • Process all tickets settled by prosecutor's office before assigned court date.

4.Money

  • Responsible for checks, money orders, cashier's checks and cash. Verify that money has been assessed and attached correct case number.

5.Clerical

  • Maintain all vital information for future reference in accordance with the state law. Type various forms and other miscellaneous orders.

6.Public Information and Services

  • Answer phone have personal contact regarding court operations, status of cases in Criminal matters, Small Claims and Civil Procedures.

7.Small Claims & Civil

  • Process and enter small claims and civil cases, prepare defendant judgments, motions, orders and enter in computer and present to Judge. Enter and process written answers from plaintiffs, defendants, and attorneys.

    Perform various types of correspondence as needed. Process and return all signed orders, judgments and instructions the Judge may deem needed in certain cases.

8.Schedule trial dates for city and county.

9.Perform other duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 7-11 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None required.

PUBLIC CONTACT

Regular contacts with citizens, city attorney, city prosecutor, other courts, investigators, army personnel, and outside representatives.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT

Regular contacts within the department and with other departments as needed.

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS

Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
