Ross is a Fortune 500 company and a leader in off price retail! This Controls Technician will work 1st shift and is on a four days a week / 10 hour day schedule. We match competitive salaries and signature bonuses are offered. The starting pay for a controls tech is $33/ hr. and has the potential to make higher wages based on experience.


To troubleshoot, maintain and enhance the accuracy, reliability and system control's data credibility of PLC and PC based automation systems. Effectively utilize building management system's interface tools and equipment to achieve efficiency. Communicate and partner with internal engineering staff and equipment vendors.


  • Exhibit the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic design of PLC logic, operator interface terminal, energy management systems and electrical installations.

  • Statistically interpret and improve automated system's performance parameters, at macro/micro level.

  • Perform Preventive Maintainance for controls and systematize electrical/control parts inventory.

  • Coordinate with vendors, installation of electrical or controls; as instructed.

  • Maintain accurate record keeping such as: work orders, timesheets, parts requests.

PLC Skills:Familiarity with RS Logix 500 and RS Logix 5000 instruction set and intermediate proficiency in writing logic.

  • Ability to use Relay Ladder Logic and Functional Block Diagram Editor

  • Possess a functional understanding of configuring closed loop control utilizing PIDE in FBD Editor

Fieldbus Network Skills:Familiarity with design and implementation (hardware and software) for the following networks:

  • Controlnet

  • Devicenet

  • Ethernet

  • Profibus

  • Universal Remote (I/O) Network

  • Sercos Interface

  • Modbus

Additional Special Skills Required:

Functional knowledge in configuring instrumentation, referring to manufacturer documentation.

Strong ability to read manuals and understand functionality of instrumentation and use of configuring software.

Functional (intermediate) understanding of electrical circuits, in reference to industrial automation.

Familiarity with current National Electrical Code (NEC).

Ability to read electrical schematics.

Ability to use process meter and operate oscilloscope.

Functional familiarity with HVAC principles for Building Management Systems (BMS).

Knowledgeable in the assembly of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, robotic operation and vision systems and the ability to assemble new equipment; and modify existing manufacturing equipment.

Connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security and communications.

Understanding of 3 phase distribution and 3 phase power transmission system.

Firm grasp on testing 3 phase related equipment 480v and below.

Energy management (BMS) software and hardware familiarity.

Clear understanding of power systems grounding and safe grounding practices.

Familiarity with Motor Control Center (MCC)

Understanding of Arc Flash Hazard.

Familiarity: electrical construction and configuration (hardware/software) of basic electrical components used in automation systems: Solenoids

  • Beacons

  • Proximity Switches, etc.

Understanding of PLC Hardware: Pico Controllers, MicroLogix 1500, CompactLogix, ControlLogix and SLC 500 systems. 1794 Flex I/O system.

Familiarity would be a plus with: WAGO-I/O System, Siemens Simatic Step 7, Controller Area Network (CAN), B&R X67 I/O system.

Must be flexible to work any shift and/or weekends as scheduled.

Exhibit the ability to work independently, safely and with limited supervision.

Must place the utmost importance on working safely, and maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others, at all times

Oversee picking, put away, receiving and load/ship of orders. This individual will assume full responsibility for the quality and efficiency of the service provided to TBC locations. This individual is responsible for managing the distribution staff. Job Responsibilities * Meet or exceed TBC's performance standards for quality and speed of service to our customers. * Assist in establishing/validating standards and measurements for the operation of the several departments operating within the Distribution center. Will perform reviews to assess the attainment of those objectives. * Responsible for the protection of company assets which includes Inventory, Equipment, and facilities. * Will assist in providing information to develop the annual operating budget, which includes the staffing plan, fleet expenses, facility maintenance costs and capital spending requirements. * Responsible for monitoring expenses regularly and performing monthly variance reporting. * Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all picking, receiving, put away, load/ship of all orders, product returns, and ensuring Inventory Control functions. * Reviews and recommends changes to the computer systems in order to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service. * Maintain solid employee relations through regular communications and administration of the company's Human Resource policies. * Develop and implement appropriate training programs to ensure that staff is equipped to perform assigned duties. * Maintains the facility equipment and vehicles and will resolve any issues which may interfere with the safe, efficient, and least cost operation of the Distribution Center. * Regularly review security systems to ensure proper operation and utilization. * Promote safe operating practices throughout the facility and provide necessary safety training to all occupants of the building. Qualifications * Successful management experience including but not limited to: leadership and motivational ability, time management and organizational skills, training, coaching and counseling. * Mathematical and analytical skills necessary to budget, forecast and evaluate Distribution Center performance. * Proven successful development and implementation of material handling equipment and conveyors (where applicable). * Customer service orientation and a high level of professional integrity. * Ability to work well under pressure (conflicting priorities, absenteeism etc.) and handle multiple tasks. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends. * A degree in Logistics, Business, or other related disciplines is required or equivalent experience in a high volume distribution or transportation environment.
