Overview

Job Summary

Assists and supports the administration of the inventory control process. Performs physical counts and audits of product, maintain accurate records of product inventories, reconciliations and adjustments. Consistently provides world class customer service to internal and external customers. Perform other related work.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and address issues from the daily reports utilized to facilitate accurate inventory records, such as weight comparisons, mis-rotated slots, expiration problems, slot count differences, etc.

  • Coordinate and perform daily cycle counting of product. Ensure initial recheck audit is completed and discrepancies are corrected and/or reported for further follow-up.

  • Audit purchase orders daily for correctly entered weights of product. Research any discrepancies of 1000 pounds or more. Take steps to correct and prevent discrepancies.

  • Conduct daily/weekly counts of perishable items such as meat and dairy in a timely manner. Make certain audits include verification of expiration dates, counts, product condition and quality. Communicate issues to buyers.

  • Perform thorough research of discrepancies that exceed acceptable value loss guidelines. Take steps to correct and prevent discrepancies.

  • Assist with the administration of store returns, store credits, accounts payable corrections and transfers. Verify provided data; research and identify errors such as mis-picks, overages, purchase order errors, receiving documents, etc. Ensure corrections are documented and updated appropriately.

  • Supervise inventory control clerical personnel. Assess relevant training needs for individuals, coach and develop as necessary. Communicate performance issues to supervisor for corrective action.

  • Review the rotation of product daily; adjust placement and/or location as necessary, communicate expiration date issues immediately.

  • Perform and monitor the auditing of seasonal product ensuring it is processed and distributed in a timely manner.

  • Process recoup documentation such as food bank contributions, destruction of product or reclamation center shipments. Ensure system adjustments and paperwork are accurate and input in a timely manner.

  • Provide assistance with the implementation of product placement within warehouse; ensure cube breaks, crushability, measurement, weight, type, retention, store layout, etc are considered.

  • Contribute towards the implementation of slot adjustments for new item launches, vendor changes, discontinued items and/or warehouse issues. Work in conjunction with warehouse operations for implementation of slot reassignments, product movement and system updates.

  • Analyze the relativity of product/ sale changes with the slot placement of product regularly, ensuring the integrity of the slotting system is maintained. Maintain an open line of communication with the buyers.

  • Participate with the forecasting and preparation for the arrival of seasonal product, ensure slot availability is maintained. Work closely with the inventory team throughout the distribution of product; physically verify slot is empty prior to closing out a slot for discontinuance of an item.

  • Know the coordination between the store layout and warehouse layout of product resulting in a more efficient distribution and stocking of product upon arrival to the store.

  • Performs other projects and duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Demonstrating self-direction, dependability, initiative and excellent time management skills to prioritize and perform a variety of simultaneous tasks (multi-tasking).

  • Utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.

  • Demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail in order to effectively monitor progress and complete assignments.

  • Performing all tasks with integrity.

  • Administering and prioritize different tasks, phone calls and projects.

  • Establishing and maintaining good rapport with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, customers and others.

  • Demonstrating proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  • Demonstrating strong proficiency with numerical data and calculations.

  • Operating computers with Windows applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. in a work setting.

Ability to:

  • Accept direction from multiple sources and effectively manage time to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Perform repetitious work accurately and with mental alertness.

  • Learn and memorize location of product and warehouse procedure.

  • Work in an environment which includes concrete floors and temperatures ranging -12 degrees F in the freezer to 34 degrees and high humidity in chilled areas, to ambient non-air conditioned warehouse areas.

  • Stand and/or walk for long periods of time.

  • Perform quick and accurate 10-key data entry.

  • Perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.

Machines and Equipment Operated:

  • Computer keyboard, mouse, office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, scanner, etc.), hand held radio frequency computer devices and other devices.
